  3. Required Training Leasing All Specialty Areas* Lease Acquisition Appraisal Principles Negotiation Cost & Price Analysis Management & Disposal Federal Lease Law Utilization & Disposal *Change, but no additional requirements

  4. Training in Lieu of Experience 180 hours (or 6 semester hours) = 1 year experience Real estate or closely-related subject Courses required for certification not eligible Certification Committee approval required Can be used to offset lack of experience in a specialty area

  5. Continuous Learning Requirement Required to maintain CRS certification Maintaining certification required for RECO warrant

  6. Continuous Learning Requirement Former 3 courses in 5 years + annual Ethics training Approved Courses list on Powerpedia Don t count: courses required for certification Do count: DOE annual R.E. training (1 every 5 years)

  7. Continuous Learning Requirement New 80 CLPs every 2 years 1 CLP=1 hour of training Consistent with other certifications DOE FIMS/RE annual training Credit every year (instead of 1x/5 yrs.) Credit for full 3-days (up to 24 CLPs) More training subjects eligible: Contracting, Project Mgmt., Leadership, etc. Most training, except annual required (and required for cert.) Flexible training formats Online courses/webinars Shorter-length courses, lunch-and-learns e.g.

  8. Continuous Learning Requirement Transition New requirement applies to: New certifications issued 1/1/2018 or later Existing certifications after completion of current 5-year cycle New requirement subject to revision if FAITAS deployment delayed or cancelled

  9. Level I Increase Level I authority = SAT (41 USC 134, FAR 2.101, GSAM 570.102) Previously: $150,000 NDAA FY18 increased to $250,000 Certification Program will adopt higher limit MA-50 will issue memo CRS certificates: no change needed RECO warrants: level I eligible for increase

FAITAS is Coming The Destination The Journey Consistency with other DOE/Fed. certifications System notifications/routing replace some documentation Centralized certification and training records Record, track continuous learning status Waiting for R.E. program to be created in FAITAS Timing uncertain Users will need to: Create accounts Upload records of past training

  11. FHWA Acquisition Training 2012 Uniform Act amendment requires agencies to: Enter into MOU w/FHWA for training Provide funding $35K/yr DOE/FHWA MOU signed 2018 Funding request pending for FY19 Variety of training options details TBD
