  1. RECEPTION Meet the Teacher

  2. MORNINGS It has been wonderful to see most of the children coming into school with smiles. Urgent concerns- please email the dlp- yearr@dittonlodgeprimary.co.uk or ring the office.

  3. CURRICULUM CONTENT We are an SFA school and the Reception curriculum is the SFA Kinder Corner. The children will cover a topic for 2 weeks. Our current and first topic is Welcome to school. Next week we will start I am amazing! I feel fine! Children spend most of their time doing child led activites. Adult led activities have been introduced and these along with carpet time will increased over the term. Phonics phase 1 has began and phase 2 will start next week. Phonics meeting will be in October. We have two teaching assistants working in the class Mrs Wood and Mrs Darley PE will be on Monday PM. We will let you know when we want children to start coming in in their PE kit.

  4. TAPESTRY In reception the children will be assessed all the time through observations. You can see these observations on tapestry. As well as their development the children are also observed for the characteristics of effective learning they are showing. Observations also help us to decide what the children s next steps are and plan this into our provision. There will be a Tapestry meeting before half term if parents require help. Please do log on to see your child s learning and share it with them.

  5. FOCUS CHILD Your child will have a week when they are a focus child. A letter home to tell you the date A meeting will be arrange for the following week to let you know what we saw and your child s next steps. This is instead of parents evening which they have in other years groups. This will just be for the Autumn term. We will have parents evening like the rest of the school in the Spring term.

  6. HOMEWORK Reading: The children will start to take a book home from next week. Expected to read/be read to at home a minimum of five times a week. Home reading record to detail what has been read. RIBIT (Read In Bed It s Terrific) certificates for signed reads on 5 different nights in a week. 10 stamps = a free book. Children also will have the opportunity to choose an additional book from our home reading library. This is just a book to enjoy with you.

  7. HOMEWORK Phonics: The children will be given phonics homework book, which will have in it the sounds they are learning that week. There are ideas for how to practice the sounds in the front of the book. E.g. Finding things around the house that start with the sound. The book is for your information and a place for you to record what you have done.

  8. PE The children will have P.E. once a week, on Monday. Children will need to come into school wearing Comprising: plimsolls or trainers, Ditton Lodge purple T-shirt or plain dark tshirt (no buttons) Plain dark shorts or tracksuit bottoms/leggings Earrings should not be worn on P.E. days for safety reasons.
