Settling in to the Reception Unit
Settling into Reception. Working towards the children being happy and secure in their new classrooms. Building relationships with each other and the staff. Building new and strong working relationships with the families of the children. Becoming familiar with their new Learning Areas and the routines of the day. Lots of positive behaviour modelled and expectations established. In the Autumn Term, activities are planned carefully and we begin to find out what each child can do and where each child s starting point is. Stories are a huge part of our curriculum across all Areas of Learning.
Things to remember This half term PE will be on Thursday afternoons. In PE the children are learning and developing throwing and catching skills, movement, balance, co-ordination and team games. The theme is Multi-Skills and we work with an external coach called Connor. Please ensure children arrive in their PE kits on a Thursday and that earrings are removed or covered. Please bring your book bag and reading book daily. Children will be supported by staff to change their reading book when necessary. Please use the Reading Diary to record when your child reads with you at home. In addition to Reading Scheme books that are matched to your child's ability we will also be choosing and sending home a Reading for Pleasure each week.
