  2. Why do we Recharter? Practical Reasons Assure charter partners deliver BSA program Review relationship with charter partner Match unit and council records Insurance and liability protection Advancement records

  3. Units Role in Recharter The unit is responsible for the on-time recharter and should engage the commissioner when needed. Commissioners are here to help, guide, and advise Commissioners assist with the rechartering process, and review and approve JTE

  4. What is new this year? No access Codes Limited access by unit position Online Submittal YPT Certificates Paper Applications Criminal Background Check Auth Forms Payment Simplified Online Navigation

What is new this year?- Continued Electronic Authorization Once the roster is finalized and payment method is marked, the processor will be able to submit for final approval by COR/IH and council level processing. Auto Post Charters that are submitted with NO uploads, multiples or missing data will auto post Invite new members A Scout/Volunteer not on the roster can be invited directly from the recharter screen to complete an online application Youth Protection Processors will NOT be able to enter a date for YPT- a certificate will need to be uploaded or the roster can be refreshed

  6. Dan Beard Council Youth Protection Emails will be sent monthly to volunteers with expired youth protection reminding them to take the training and informing of the deadline to complete training. Unit Key 3 member will be copied on the second (60 day) email message, and we ask that they help remind the Scouter to complete the training. In addition to the e-mail reminder, a scouter who is untrained for more than 60 days will also receive a message via US Mail to serve as one final reminder that training must be completed. The BSA membership for any scouter who is 90 days overdue will be expired and related membership fees will not be refunded. At this point, to rejoin the BSA in any capacity, the scouter would need to submit a new adult leader application and complete youth protection training.

Pro- Tips Submit any youth applications online or to the Council office PRIOR to completing the online charter (by 12/1) The Update Unit Roster button will update new members and Youth Protection Training to the recharter system Updates are not automatic- you will need to refresh with the Update Unit Roster button manually

  9. After Online Submission Unit key 3 will receive an email stating the charter is ready for approval- This will be an Adobe Sign request. Dan Beard Council will review all uploaded items, approval signatures and youth protection. You will be contacted for any incomplete or invalid items If you choose NOT to pay electronically, you will need to submit payment to the council office. It is still due December 10th. Membership cards will be available in my.scouting AFTER the charter is posted.

Potential Roadblocks to plan for NOW Youth Protection will be expiring for many from October- March Registration fees need to be collected from Scouts and leaders Complete Roster Checks early-collect applications from any missing Scouts or volunteers Communicate with other units at your chartering organization to be clear about which unit will pay fees for any multiple members (Charter Org Representative is most common) Make sure your charter processor is registered with the correct position in position manager 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
