Las organizaciones sin fines de lucro Paso 1. Individually, make a list of all the nonprofit organizations you know of in your community. What do they do? Whom do they serve? Paso 2. Share your list with a partner. Work together to add any other local community-based organizations to your lists. Paso 3. As a class, use your lists to categorize the local nonprofits based on the different types of needs they meet (food/nutrition, education, etc.). What type of organization is most common in your community? What local needs can you think of that are not being fully met?

La Fundacin ANAR Fundaci n ANAR is a nonprofit organization that supports children and teenagers in difficult situations in Spain and parts of Latin America. You will first read some background information about the organization. Then, you will learn more about a program it provides. Finally, you will research another nonprofit organization that serves children and youth in Latin America or Spain. OJO! Remember that you do not have to understand every word to comprehend the meaning of what you are reading. Use inferring and gisting to help your comprehension.
La Fundacin ANAR Paso 1. With a partner, read the background information on the page Sobre Nosotros and answer the following questions: Qu es la Fundaci n ANAR? Qu hace? A qui nes ayuda? Cu l es la misi n de la Fundaci n ANAR? Paso 2. There are five purposes listed as part of the mission of Fundaci n ANAR. For each purpose, look up the definition of the word and then write a new definition in Spanish in your own words.
