  3. Faculty Senate Charge to APT Review the merged/combined document and provide a recommendation regarding faculty approval of the new draft version. This charge includes: Inspecting the new instructor promotion portion (Kudos well done!) Carefully reviewing the newly merged document for any possible issues/misalignments (Kudos again, well done!) Providing any recommendations for additional edits/adjustments (Six recommendations plus minor edits)

  4. Recommendation #1 Section I.B.1-4. Committees: Responsibilities and Service (pp. 1-3) Revised the Unit Peer Review, Unit Tenured Faculty, Unit Promoted Faculty, and Unit Personnel Committee descriptions to include information on: Who is eligible to vote for the members of each committee Who is eligible to serve on the committee Committee member s eligibility to vote on which candidates This information was brought forward from subsequent sections of the document and deleted in the subsequent sections as appropriate.

  5. Recommendation #2 Section II.B/C. Initial Appointment (pp.4-5) Section V.B.13. Procedures for Promotion (p.30) Added text to make it explicit that the Unit Tenured Faculty and Unit Promoted Faculty Committees shall write letters explaining the rationale for their votes.

  6. Recommendation #3 Section III.B.4. Annual Review for All Faculty (p.11) Added the requirement that the head/chair consult with affected faculty member before modifying the faculty member s workload.

  7. Recommendation #4 Section III.F. Criteria for Assessing Faculty Performance (p. 15) Added text to draw boundaries around what can be used for faculty evaluation. Current: The overall rating may reflect aspects of an individual's performance germane to an evaluation of their professional responsibilities, but not belonging solely to teaching, scholarship, or service. This may include an individual's demonstrated ability to work productively with colleagues in carrying out the research/creative, teaching, and service missions of the department and the College. Proposed: The overall rating may reflect aspects of an individual's performance germane to an evaluation of their professional responsibilities, including teaching, scholarship, service, and contributions to the academic mission of the unit.

  8. Recommendation #5 Section V.A.1./2. Criteria for Promotion (pp. 21 22) Added the statement (multiple places) that criteria for promotion must be consistent with the candidate s academic appointment.

  9. Recommendation #6 Section VII. Dismissal of Tenure-Track and Tenured Faculty (p. 40), and Section VIII.B. Dismissal of Multi-Year Appointed Non-Tenure-Track Faculty (p. 41) Added the requirement that a copy of the letter with Chancellor s decision be copied to the chair of APT IF the faculty appeal was through the APT Committee.
