  2. IQA Objectives Recognize a dissemination of information Explain how to comply with the IQA Locate and Apply Guidance

  3. Requirements Assure quality of disseminated information Provides mechanism for information correction requests and administrative appeals

  4. Definitions Information: Any communication of knowledge in any form Dissemination:Agency initiated or sponsored distribution to the public

  5. Examples COVERED NOT COVERED Biological surveys Government employees/agency contractors/grantees Catch statistics Model output Intra- or inter-agency use Third-party (e.g., states, industry) information used in NOAA products Responses to FOIA requests Any medium that announce, support the announcement or give public notice of information NOAA has disseminated elsewhere. Speeches Outreach materials Website

  6. Definitions (continued) Quality:Includes utility, integrity, and objectivity Utility: Relates to usefulness and transparency Integrity: Relates to security and protection from misuse Objectivity: Relates to different standards depending on the category of information

  7. Natural Resource Plans: Objectivity 1. Developed according to published standards (i.e. statutory or regulatory guidelines) 2. Based on the best information available 3. Presented in an accurate, clear, complete and unbiased manner

  8. Complete Pre-dissemination Review Form Author/responsible official Title/description of document Release date Medium Statement of review by Reviewing Official at least one level above person generating the document with signature and date Includes statements as to affirming the utility, integrity, and objectivity of the product
