Why should I recycle? To make sure we can enjoy nature when we re older. To save energy - less energy is used when things are made from recycled materials. To protects wildlife by keeping habitat clean and healthy. To keep our neighbourhoods and school grounds clean. To keep waste of our landfills.
What containers can I recycle at school? All drink containers such as: Juice boxes Water bottles Pop cans Glass juice bottles Drink pouches Other drink containers NO MILK CARTONS
Preparing containers for recycling: Empty all liquid. Leave the labels ON. Do not crush containers. Remove all caps, straws and garbage. If your recycling contains caps, garbage, or liquids the green depot may not accept it that means less money for the school and more garbage going to the landfill.
Schools get double the refund: Did you know that the green depot gives our school 5 cents for each container AND MMSB gives us an extra 5 cents for each container. That s DOUBLE the refund! This money helps our school do great things for the environment!
What about reusable bottles? A reusable bottle for your juice and water is a great choice! It reduces the garbage we make. Take your reusable bottle home to be washed and used again and again it can save you money and our help our earth. Reduce and Reuse come before Recycle!
