Reflect Blogging Hands-on Induction (1-hr) For MEDC0002, MEDC0008 and MEDC0009
A valid UCL username and password A laptop computer or tablet We don t recommend a smartphone for this as it maybe too fiddly. A personal blog for each module you are taking (i.e. MEDC0002 and/or MEDC0009) These blogs were created for you in advance of this session. In this session you will need Note: Reflect is UCL s branding of CampusPresswhich is essentially the same as Edublogsand WordPress. Hence, user guides may be found on sites referring to any of these WordPress products.
How to: Login to Reflectand locate your personal blog(s) for each class/module you re currently taking. Visit: https://reflect.ucl.ac.uk (5 min) Click on My Sites (top left) select a blog commencing MEDC0002 or MEDC0009 (Note:If it s your personal blog for one of those modules, it should have your name at the end. Click to see.) Check that you re working on the right blog (2 min) Join each of these personal blogs to the respective Class blog with the same module code in its name. (7 min) Point to My Class and select Join a Class Search for either 2018-medc0002 or 2018-medc0009 (which ever matches the name of your personal blog) Click on the Request to join button In this session you will learn Configure privacy settings on your personal blog(s) (7 min) Select Settings (near bottom of left menu) Select Reading then check Site Visibility settings Create/edit a post confident that it was created in the right personal blog and not a class blog you ve joined or another personal blog (10 min) Click on +New (top black bar), select Post To edit existing post: Click on Posts (left menu) In All Posts point to the post you want to edit/bin (delete)/view and select action accordingly Add media, web links, tables, etc. to your posts see links to Edublogsguides on next slide (15 min) Save, save as Draftand Publish your posts and learn the difference between these options (7 min) Create a Page and what s the difference between it and a Post(5 min)
