O God! Refresh and gladden my spirit. Purify my heart. Illumine my powers. I lay all my affairs in Thy hand. Thou art my Guide and my Refuge. I will no longer be sorrowful and grieved; I will be a happy and joyful being. O God! I will no longer be full of anxiety, nor will I let trouble harass me. I will not dwell on the unpleasant things of life. O God! Thou art more friend to me than I am to myself. I dedicate myself to Thee, O Lord. - 'Abdu'l-Bah
...The Almighty hath tried, and will continue to try, His servants, so that light may be distinguished from darkness, truth from falsehood, right from wrong, guidance from error, happiness from misery, and roses from thorns. Even as He hath revealed: "Do men think when they say 'We believe' they shall be let alone and not be put to proof?" - Bah 'u'll h
IN this world we are influenced by two sentiments, Joy and Pain. Joy gives us wings! In times of joy our strength is more vital, our intellect keener, and our understanding less clouded. We seem better able to cope with the world and to find our sphere of usefulness. But when sadness visits us we become weak, our strength leaves us, our comprehension is dim and our intelligence veiled. The actualities of life seem to elude our grasp, the eyes of our spirits fail to discover the sacred mysteries, and we become even as dead beings. Paris Talks - 'Abdu'l-Bah
Don t be disappointed if people refuse to help you. Remember the words of Einstein: I m thankful to all those who said NO because of them I did it myself.
The Holy Manifestations of God possess two stations: one is the physical station, and one the spiritual. In other words, one station is that of a human being, and one, of the Divine Reality. If the Manifestations are subjected to tests, it is in Their human station only, not in the splendor of Their Divine Reality. Selections from the Writings of Abdu l-Bah
I was once afraid of people saying Who does she think she is? Now I have the courage to stand and say, This is who I am. Oprah Winfrey

...such things as throw consternation into the hearts of all men come to pass only that each soul may be tested by the touchstone of God, that the true may be known and distinguished from the false. - Bah 'u'll h
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
The trials of man are of two kinds. (a) The consequences of his own actions. (b) Other sufferings there are, which come upon the Faithful of God. Those who suffer most, attain to the greatest perfection. While a man is happy he may forget his God; but when grief comes and sorrows overwhelm him, then will he remember his Father who is in Heaven, and who is able to deliver him from his humiliations. Men who suffer not, attain no perfection. Paris Talks - 'Abdu'l-Bah
Prophet Muhammed said: If Allah wants to do good to somebody, He afflicts him with trials Sahih Bukhari: Volume 7, Book 70, Number 548
O thou servant of God! Do not grieve at the afflictions and calamities that have befallen thee. All calamities and afflictions have been created for man so that he may spurn this mortal world - a world to which he is much attached. When he experienceth severe trials and hardships, then his nature will recoil and he will desire the eternal realm- a realm which is sanctified from all afflictions and calamities. 'Abdu'l-Bah
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12
All the Divine Manifestations sent by God into the world would have gone through their terrible hardships and sufferings for the single hope of spreading Truth, unity and concord among men. Christ endured a life of sorrow, pain and grief, to bring a perfect example of love into the world and in spite of this we continue to act in a contrary spirit one towards the other! Paris Talks - 'Abdu'l-Bah
