By 2050, the American population's diversity will challenge current assessment strategies. The Relevance 2050 initiative aims to expand education and tools for all individuals. Workshop subcommittees and thought leaders are working towards this effort, with approved learning objectives for AACN conferences. Presenters are required to include relevant learning objectives regarding diversity. Resources and checklists are provided to ensure compliance, setting the framework for continued responsiveness and improvement.

  4. Why? As our population rapidly diversifies, by 2050 60% of the American population may be un-testable with our current toolkit of largely monolingual English, monocultural neuropsychological assessment strategies. Neuropsychology as a profession will become increasingly irrelevant in the healthcare marketplace if we do not take action now to mainstream the imperative to expand the relevance of our education, research, and tools to the full diversity of our population.

  5. What? At least one Relevance 2050 Learning Objective will be included in all workshops at AACN. Presenters will generate one learning objective regarding their coverage of the broad issue of diversity of human experience as it pertains to their presentation (including literature reviews and practice recommendations.) Relevance 2050 Learning Objectives were approved by AACN BOD in June 2015 as part of the broader Relevance 2050 initiative. Our subcommittee added this to its goals in late 2019. Other national and state neuropsychological/ psychological organizations are moving towards implementing a Relevance 2050-type Learning Objective as well.

  6. How? Communicate this requirement to 2021 conference presenters Provide resources for presenters to meet this requirement Checklist Example slides BRAIN-style listserv Checklist will have option to cntrl+V references that will feed into database. Will use metadata to organize database so future presenters can draw from. Set framework for longevity and iterative responsiveness to feedback

  7. Means to an End: Phase I Listserv dialogue and feedback; plant a seed. 1. Relevance 2050 listserv (which already provided initial feedback on needs and challenges via questionnaire) 2. Set liaison within AACN Program/Education Committee

  8. Means to an End: Phase II Beta testing; support the sapling. 1. AACN first announcement 2. Contact 2021 presenters carrying over from 2020 regarding the initiative. Add optional questions to presentation rating regarding this initiative. 5. Host a symposium at 2021 conference (or pre-conference video symposium) discussing this in more detail. 6. Obtain feedback from presenters and attendees regarding strengths and limits of current process. a. Could be questionnaire link within conference app.
