  2. BIRTH-DEATH AND FAMILY Borned: October 21, 1925 Died:July 16, 2003 Her family is her parents, two sisters,one brother, and her husband.

  3. CELIA CRUZ HOMETOWN AND EDUCATION Celia Cruz grew up in Santos Su rez, a district of Havana in an extended family of 14. After high schoolsheattended the Normal School for Teachers in Havana, intending to become a literature teacher. She grew up in Havana.

  4. ACCOMPLISHMENTS Celia Cruz s achivments have been with a lot of awards she had 23 gold albums,3 Grammy Awards,4 Latin Grammy Awards,and the President National Medal of Arts.

  6. I INCLUDED THESE FACTS 1. Celia Cruz, the Cuban singer who became the queen of Latin music, died July 16,2003 at her home in Fort Lee, N.J. She was 77. The cause was complications after surgery for a brain tumor, said a spokeswoman, Blanca Lasalle. 2. Azucar literally means "sugar," but as Perez notes, it served Cruz as a "battle cry" and an allusion to African slaves who worked Cuba's sugar plantations. 3. Celia Cruz became very well known for her own unique type of style. She could hit high pitches as if drinking water. She also had a great way of combining her lyrics with her feelings my Hero is Celia Cruz because after all the struggles that she had she still managed to be a star.

  7. 1925 1959 1960 1962 1986 2003 After the Cuban Revolution of 1959,Havana's nightlife all but disappeared. Along with the other members of her band, La Sonora Matancera, in 1960 Cruz left Cuba for Mexico an d then the United States, eventually settling in New York City. Celia Cruz was borned. The Cuben reveloustion happend Ritmo En El Corazon, brought home her first career GRAMMY for Best Tropical Latin Performance at the 32nd GRAMMY Award. She got married in New Jersey. July 16 she died.
