EDUCATION INNOVATION AND RESEARCH (EIR) WHAT DOCUMENTS NEED TO BE INCLUDED IN AN APPLICATION? NOTE: THESE SLIDES ARE INTENDED AS GUIDANCE ONLY. PLEASE REFER TO THE OFFICIAL NOTICES AS THEY ARE PUBLISHED IN THE FEDERAL REGISTER.
READ THE NOTICE INVITING APPLICATIONS (NIA) All applicants interested in completing an EIR application should first thoroughly review the Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) for the grant competition they want to apply for published in the Federal Register. 2
DOWNLOAD AND READ THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION PACKAGE Applicants should be careful that they download the intended EIR application package and that they submit their application under the intended EIR competition. Your application will be reviewed under the competition it was submitted under, and only applications that are successfully submitted by the established deadline will be peer reviewed. Please note that the Application Packages are for applicants to download and use as a guide only. 3

PARTS 2-5: BUDGET, ABSTRACT AND NARRATIVE Part 2: Budget Information Non-Construction Programs (ED Form 524) Sections A & B Part 3: Abstract Narrative Form Part 4: Project Narrative Form Attach the responses to the Selection Criteria and Priorities. Applicants should include a Table of Contents. Part 5: Budget Narrative Form Only one combined budget should be submitted to represent costs for all entities involved in the proposed project. Do not include multiple budgets for the LEA or nonprofit organization and partner(s). 5
