COMPLETING THE FORM PAGE 2 Questions regarding pregnant women and mental illness are BOTH YES and requires a supporting statement, for example: The research may encounter females whom at the time may or may not be pregnant and this will be taken into account and consideration will be given, as well as sensitivity towards this area. Mental illness within individuals can be hard to recognise, therefore this research will aim to leave the participant in the same mental state that they were in before completing the research.

How many participants / subjects will be recruited and / or involved in the research study, and what is the rationale behind this number Be realistic about the numbers and also the time it will take to collate and analyse the data, decode interviews etc. COMPLETING THE FORM PAGE 4 8. Has the gatekeeper / organisational consent been obtained for the use of these participants? Answered required: Yes with supporting evidence. No explain why

Explain how you are going to approach / recruit individuals, for example: participants are internal and available as they are students within the Research College Group and therefore recruitment within this area is not necessary. How questionnaires will be distributed, what method? Snowball, random, cluster, convenience etc

  8. 10. How will you ensure you gain informed consent from anyone involved in the study? . If there are power issues regarding researcher and participants such as direct teacher / student relationship please explain how these will be addressed. Ethical guidelines needs to be considered, why this is necessary and why failing to conduct research within ethical guidelines can damage the research and impact on findings. Not addressing the power relations has both ethical and methodological implications for your research, the must be considered in the design of your work. Adhering to guidelines can further prevent failings within the area of research, yet may also allow the findings of the work to be accepted within the area of research and fellow researchers (methods.manchester.ac.uk, n.d.).   9. 11. How will you ensure you abide by the Data Protection Act 1998 and GDPR? Consider data protection in accordance to the act, why it is necessary and reference. How will you keep data safe, secure and confidential (if not in College User area only) ? How will you dispose of it? Are you collecting personal data beyond the name? COMPLETING THE FORM PAGE 5 12. Other ethical issues that need to be considered for example British Educational Research Association (BERA) Students need to refer to BERA in this section, for example what BERA is and why it is important, references need to be included.
