KPIs KPI: KPI Reference Number: S10.1 Number of refereed publications in the previous year per full time equivalent teaching staff. (Publications based on the formula in the Higher Council Bylaw excluding conference presentations) 0.60% KPI Target Benchmark 62% KPI Actual Benchmark Internal Benchmark 0.65% External Benchmark 0.25% 0.64% New Target Benchmark KPI Analysis: no. of refereed publications 250, the total no. of PhD Holder is 399. The university achieved its target in terms of number of refereed publications in the previous year per full time equivalent teaching staff. In addition, its performance in this field is better than external benchmark s performance. Although this ratio shows lacking of publications of faculty members which is less than one, MU makes efforts to enhance this ratio.
KPIs KPI: KPI Reference Number: S10.2 27. Number of citations in refereed journals in the previous year per full time equivalent faculty members. 20% KPI Target Benchmark 20% KPI Actual Benchmark Internal Benchmark 25% External Benchmark 15% 20.8% New Target Benchmark KPI Analysis: Number of citations in refereed journals is 81, the total no. of PhD Holder is 399 for the year 1435, the new target is to increase the value by 4% as for all regular KPIs The university achieved its target in terms of number of citation in refereed publications in the previous year per full time equivalent faculty members. In addition, its performance in this field is better than external benchmark s performance. Although this ratio shows lacking number of citation in refereed publications, MU makes efforts to enhance this ratio and raise faculty members awareness of importance if this issue by doing several workshops about citation such as google scholar citation.
KPIs KPI: KPI Reference Number: S10.3 28. Proportion of full time member of teaching staff with at least one refereed publication during the previous year. KPI Target Benchmark 20% 20% KPI Actual Benchmark Internal Benchmark 25% External Benchmark 15% 20.8% New Target Benchmark KPI Analysis: : Number of staff has one refereed publication is 81, the total no. of ph. Holder is 399 so the kpi value is 20% ,the new target is to increase the value by 4% as for all regular KPIs. The university achieved its target in terms of Proportion of full time member of teaching staff with at least one refereed publication. In addition, its performance in this field is better than external benchmark s performance Although this ratio shows lacking of publications of each faculty member which is less than one f, MU makes efforts to enhance this ratio.
KPIs KPI: KPI Reference Number: S10.4 29. Number of papers or reports presented at academic conferences during the past year per full time equivalent faculty members. KPI Target Benchmark 26.56% KPI Actual Benchmark Internal Benchmark External Benchmark New Target Benchmark
KPIs KPI: KPI Reference Number: S10.5 30. Research income from external sources in the past year as a proportion of the number of full time faculty members. KPI Target Benchmark 7519 SR/staff 7519 SR/staff KPI Actual Benchmark Internal Benchmark External Benchmark 19,600 SR/staff 7820 SR/staff New Target Benchmark KPI Analysis: the external bench mark , is too high to reach so the new target will be 9000 and will be put in the improvement plane. The university achieved its target in terms of research income from external sources in the past year as a proportion of the number of full time faculty members.. However,, its performance in this field is very far from external benchmark s performance Although this ratio shows lacking of research income as proportion of number of faculty members, MU makes efforts to enhance this ratio.
KPIs KPI: KPI Reference Number: S10.6 Proportion of the total, annual operational budget dedicated to research. 2.1% KPI Target Benchmark 2.1% KPI Actual Benchmark Internal Benchmark 3% External Benchmark 1.5% 2.18% New Target Benchmark KPI Analysis: the total budget to the university 950 million SR two (2) million are for research The university achieved its target in terms of proportion of the total, annual operational budget dedicated to research.. In addition, its performance in this field is better than external benchmark s performance. However, MU target s is to enhance this percentage.
Strengths A research strategic plan, research priorities, and ethics charter for research, publication, and translation are identified. Importance of research in the process of faculty promotion and evaluation. Establishing scientific chairs, centers, and Prince Salman Institute for Studies & Advisory Services to support faculty member in their research and consolations
Areas for improvement The research supporting infrastructure needs more improvement including space and equipment for research centers. Encourage faculty members to increase their ISI productions. Working on attracting more funds from private sectors and KACST. Working on establishing connections with international research centers and collaborators. Publishing the annual reports on the website of the university and colleges.
