  2. Jesus Betrayal and Arrest

  3. Have you ever thought about how a Christ follower should act after being betrayed or stabbed in the back?

  4. Typically, My first reaction is usually sinful and of the flesh.

  5. Moms, Dads, & Teens How did it feel and what did you do the last time someone betrayed you?

  6. Today We ll see how Jesus responded

  7. Based upon Jesus actions, let s see how God may be prompting us to act

  8. Mark 14:43-50

  9. Just as he was speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders.

  10. Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard. Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, Rabbi! and kissed him.

  11. The men seized Jesus and arrested him. Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.

  12. Am I leading a rebellion, said Jesus, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not

  13. arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled. Then everyone deserted him and fled.

  14. Jesus response to the hurt man No more of this! And he touched the man's ear and healed him. Luke 22:51

  15. Jesus did NOT respond in kind

  16. Jesus knew who the real fight was with:

  17. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world

  18. and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12

  19. Instead of fighting fire with fire , Jesus role modeled acting in the opposite direction!

  20. Furthermore, Paul instructed Timothy:

  21. And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.

  22. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance

  23. leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil,

  24. who has taken them captive to do his will. 2 Tim 2:24-26

  25. Lets walk through this

  26. must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone

  27. able to teach, not resentful

  28. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct

  29. in the hope that God will grant them repentance

  30. leading them to a knowledge of the truth

  31. that they will come to their senses

  32. and escape from the trap of the devil

  33. who has taken them captive to do his will

  34. Anyone here want to be a tool of the enemy?

  35. You might be thinking, well that is Jesus, I can t do that

  36. Remember What is impossible with man is possible with God

  37. PRAYER Silently listening for His voice

  38. What about David A man after God s own heart

  39. Our primary sources of VICTORY

  40. Eph 6:11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

  41. Lets start at the top Helmet Hope of Salvation (Protection over your mind)

  42. Breast Plate of Righteousness (Protection over your heart)

  43. Belt of Truth (Emotions reigned in by Jesus)

  44. Shoes on your Feet Readiness given by the Gospel of Peace

  45. Shield of Faith With which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.

  46. Keeping alert Through Praying

  47. Jesus Christ the hope of Glory (In you and flowing through you)

  48. It has been said You may be the only sermon a person ever hears, if needed say something!

  49. Claim what is already yours!!!!

  50. We already have what is needed to live in VICTORY!
