Reflect back on Page 5 -Review Your Personal Goal PERSONAL GOAL WERE YOU ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOAL? WHY DO WE SPEND MORE TIME ON BIG DECISIONS? WHAT KINDS OF DECISIONS REQUIRE MORE THOUGHT? OUR DECISIONS EITHER TAKE US CLOSER TO OUR GOAL OR FURTHER AWAY FROM THEM BIGGER DECISIONS COULD HAVE MORE SIGNIFICANT CONSEQUENCES BIG DECISIONS!
Decision-Making Model Step 1: STOP Before making a decision, you need to stop so you can process elements of the decision at hand. STEP 3: ACT ACT STOP Make your decision! STEP 2: THINK Picture a positive outcome. Think about what you would like to see happen as a result of the decision you are about to make. Also, consider what might be influencing you. STEP 4: REFLECT Evaluate how you did, and ask yourself if you made the right choice. If the outcome of your decision wasn t what you expected, consider what you learned and what you could have done differently. THINK REFLECT

Look at pg. 7 -Break the Code Read the following scenario about Tom and think about what influences his decision. Tom thought he had a great soccer season. He knew he was a good candidate for the Most Valuable Player award because he practiced hard and helped the team win several games. He also knew that his teammate, Angelo, was a very good player. Angelo scored the winning goal in the playoffs and made it to more practices than Tom because Tom was also on the baseball team and sometimes had scheduling conflicts. At end of the season award banquet, Tom waited anxiously for the MVP announcement. In fact, he told several friends that he thought he would get it. When the coach announced the winner, Tom prepared to stand up, but he didn t hear his name. Angelo won the MVP award. Tom was upset and decided to trip Angelo as he walked to the stage to get his trophy. Look at Break the Code section and use the decoder wheel on pg. 24 to crack the code and check your answer.
