We are made for God and life with God. But we cannot figure this out on our own. But God is good. And God desires for us to live in his love and saving grace. So the Lord God reveals the presence and care and the assurance of God s divine truth to us.
But it is God himself who reveals all his perfections and puts his names on our lips. It is he who gives himself these names and who, despite our opposition, maintains them . . . - Herman Bavinck
13 Moses said to God, Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they ask me, What is his name? Then what shall I tell them? 14 God said to Moses, I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I am has sent me to you.
15 God also said to Moses, Say to the Israelites, The LORD, the God of your fathers the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob has sent me to you. This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.
God called to him from within the bush, Moses! Moses! And Moses said, Here I am. 5 Do not come any closer, God said. Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.
I am who I am. I am the one God who is there with you. I am the One who is there for you. I am here as God.
I am who I am. That is, 1) The LORD freely reveals his name and presence to us, we don t figure it out ourselves.

12 And God said, I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain. 3) we get close to God by faith alone

If in any way at all we are able to seek God and track down him who is and indeed he is not far from each one of us let us then praise, though we cannot find words for it, his being and love his mercy. - St Augustine

God is the One who creates for us a new past and a new future by forgiving and promising. And as I read the pages of human experience, I think I see here and there mere men and women sharing in God s life to this holy grace: they create a new past for themselves by forgiving people who have hurt them, and they create a future for others by making promises to people who need them. - Lewis Smedes
