  1. Review of Vaughn Colleges Vision, Mission and Core Values Survey 116 Total Responses to date Thursday, May 30, 2024

  2. Background on the Current Vision, Mission and Core Values How did we develop the current statements? In 2016, a group of trustees, faculty, staff and students worked as an ad hoc group to develop the current statements based on the strategic plan in place at the time, and to provide a more meaningful set of statements that would guide decision making. New vision and mission statements were approved in 2016. A separate group then developed the core values which were approved in 2017. Why are we being asked to assess the current statements? From time-to-time the institution should reexamine foundational statements such as the vision, mission and core values to determine if they still speak to the future direction of the institution, the current goals, and the guiding principles for decision making. How was the survey distributed? Survey was sent to the following groups: Students Faculty Staff Board of Trustees Industry Advisory Council President s Advisory Council Alumni Employers Survey will remain open until June 1 as we seek to capture some President s Advisory Council members. 2

Purpose of a vision statement (from Board Effect): A vision statement describes where an organization is going and what it will look like when it gets there. For example, the board relies on the vision statement when making strategic plans and decisions. Moreover, students, faculty and staff look to the vision statement for long-term direction, and donors will read your it when deciding whether to support your institution. The vision communicates your institution s value and commitment to achieving its goals. 3
