  4. The New IDS Collaborative Research Grant

  5. Application Proposals from all disciplines are welcome Application with only one applicant nominated as PC; other join applicants as Co-PIs No quota for an institution to submit applications Only one application submitted in the capacity of PC

  6. Application No limit in the number of applications submitted in the capacity of Co-PI Proposal without Co-PI will not be accepted

  7. Expenditure Items Supporting staff (e.g. RAs, SRAs etc.) Equipment (i.e. equipment directly related to the research work) General expenses Conference expenses Outsourcing of research work

  8. Expenditure Items Dissemination of research deliverables High-performance computing services Research-related software licence / dataset Teaching relief (for PC) On-costs (15%)

  9. Objective To encourage and support collaborative research involving two or more SF institutions, and / or group research activities that operate across disciplines within an institution with a view to enhancing the research output of SF institutions in terms of the level of attainment, quality, dimensions and / or speed.

  10. Eligibility Project Coordinator (PC) Co-Principal Investigators (Co-PI) Full-time academic staff spending 80% or more of their time on locally-accredited local degree or higher degree work in the SF institutions with at least a one-year renewable contract with the institutions at the time of funding award being made

  11. Funding Level and Project Duration Funding Level $2 million to $10 million, inclusive of the 15% on-costs Funding will be released to the coordinating institution in two stages Project Duration Normally last for a maximum of three years If there are sound justifications, the project duration may exceed three years but should not exceed five years

  12. Assessment Criteria Academic merits and science content Long term goal of the proposal and its potential to develop into an area of strength Opportunities for effective synergy among the participating researchers, research groups and institutions Viability of the proposal, particularly in terms of its project management; and Potential research impact of the proposal
