E-cigarettes have become increasingly popular among young people, with more high school students using them than regular cigarettes. E-Cigarettes E-cigarettes are very popular with young people. Their use has grown dramatically in the last five years. Today, more high school students use e- cigarettes than regular cigarettes. The use of e- cigarettes is higher among high school students than adults.
As of Oct 15, 2019, 1,479 cases of vaping related lung injury have been reported in the U.S. 33 deaths2 Should be suspected for any patient with recent e-cigarette/vaping with characteristic findings in absence of alternative causes Cause unclear EVALI symptoms: respiratory (e.g. cough, shortness of breath, chest pain), gastrointestinal (e.g. abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting diarrhea), constitutional (e.g. fevers, chills, weight loss) Findings: hypoxia, pulmonary infiltrates on chest imaging3
