Security Measures District-Wide Cameras 481 Cameras; updates are being installed 191 Exterior Cameras Visitors to the Buildings Single designated entry door for all visitors Buzz-in entry to all buildings Audio Intercom for visitors at all elementary schools and the middle school Sign-in protocols at all buildings Issuing identification tags to all visitors Upgrades to High School Security Booths 2
Security Measures, District-Wide Security Measures During the School Day All classroom phones can be used to dial 911 directly. All schools except Covert will reach Rockville Centre Police. Covert will reach Nassau County Police Announcements can be made building-wide from any building phone Walkie-talkies used for communication All buildings have a planned off-campus evacuation site Parent notification through Robo-calls, the RVC App, Social Media applications and email. 3
Emergency Drills: Requirements, Training & Expectations District-Wide Safety Committee Review of District Emergency Procedures & Recommendations Building-Level Emergency Response Teams Review of Building-Level Emergency Procedures & Recommendations Review of Emergency Procedures with Staff & Students Staff: At opening of schools & monthly Faculty & Staff Meetings Students: Expectations reviewed at opening of schools & before/after drills 4
Security Measures District-Wide Rockville Centre Police Department most recent meeting, 9/8 Work collaboratively with the Rockville Centre Police Commissioner Police Executive Staff and Police Department Youth Officer work with Administrators to address specific needs Regular Police patrols of school campuses Share procedures including review of District-wide Emergency Response Plan by Commissioner Police are working to train all personnel on how to appropriately interact with Students with Disabilities 5
Security Measures District-Wide Rockville Centre Police Department Building-level faculty & staff and Police meeting to discuss procedures for various emergencies Planned Active Shooter drills in all schools Walk-throughs in all buildings to familiarize police officers with the inside of our buildings Police have door-access swipe cards to police for use in an emergency 6
Emergency Drills: Requirements, Training Emergency Drills: Requirements, Training & Expectations & Expectations Emergency Drill Requirements: Educational Law 807 (1-a) (12) Twelve drills conducted during the course of each school year (4) Four must be lock-down/out drills (8) Eight must be evacuation (fire) drills (8) Eight of the twelve drills must be completed by December 31 Fire: In the event fire or smoke is detected Lock-Out: A lock-out occurs when there is a threat outside of the school Lock-Down: A lock-down occurs when there is a threat inside the building 7
