Library Support Specialist From 11 months to 12 months
Justification Position requires extensive contact with students, staff, faculty, and the general public. On average spends 4.5 to 5 hours of 8 hour work day interacting with the public. Justification Con. Extension allows LSS to better assist with and complete: Migration to a state-wide college library services platform (Alma/Primo) that will launch in January 2020. Logistics such as data migration, new circulation procedures, inter-library loan (ILL), and student assistant and staff training need to be developed, reviewed, and implemented. Many of these (such as inter-library loan and training) require continual work and will be ongoing issues after implementation. Thorough inventory and maintenance of library material (college reserve items and technology items) Planning and conducting training sessions for new student assistants and refresher training sessions of current student assistants.
Justification Con. Due to day to day work requirements this position currently does not have enough time to devote to non-public facing duties and projects. Being able to work when classes are not in session will increase efficiency to this position to: Prepare reserve collection, work on library policies, train student assistants, plan outreach activities, updating the website, creating and updating information materials
