BEFORE I STARTED Before DCIG I worked for CEDA for a year and DSEG for 6 months 2 years ago, I had just finished A-levels
WHAT I WORKED ON APEL - provides compute resource accounting for EGI Grafana dashboards - provides IRIS, SCD Cloud, RAL Tier1, and SeaDataCloud accounting portals - Worked on implementing Grafana Dashboards for interTwin SSM - Securely sends messages using ARGO Messaging Service (AMS) Aquilon - manages network infrastructure Quattor - automates configuration management in large-scale IT environments
WHAT I LEARNT Agile team working How Grafana, Aquilon and Quattor work More about how to use SSH More about Python (differences between Python 2 and Python 3) More about Linux while working on the SSM
HOW FOUND THE OVERALL PLACEMENT I feel this rotation has gone well. I have learnt a lot about how different teams work as well as challenges they can face and how to mitigate them. One interesting thing I did was install Grafana dashboard not using Quattor which had a different way to do it, so I wrote a bit of documentation on how I did it. It has been a good experience overall.
WHAT IM GOING TO DO NEXT Spend another 2 years at RAL Continue the next 2 years of my degree Work for CEDA for 6 months starting October
