doc.: IEEE 802.18-24/0025r0 March 2024 RSPG Work Programme 2024/2025 Long term vision for upper 6GHz band To build a long-term vision for the upper 6 GHz band and provide policy recommendations on how to best organise the future use of this band in Europe. The results of the (ongoing) technical studies in CEPT regarding the upper 6 GHz band; The need to ensure continuous operation of WAS/RLANs in the adjacent lower 6 GHz band (5945-6425 MHz). Time schedule: o Draft Opinion for Public consultation: February 2025 o Final Opinion: June 2025 Invited presentation Slide 6 Aleksander Soltysik, RSPG
doc.: IEEE 802.18-24/0025r0 March 2024 RSPG Work Programme 2024/2025 6G strategic vision A proactive position for supporting the development and deployment of 6G in Europe. Early recognition of spectrum needs, including evaluating the coverage and capacity needs for 6G use cases and usages scenarios, so that the initial mass market launch and operation of 6G networks/services can start in 2030. Time schedule: o Draft Report/Opinion on 6G strategic vision: November 2024 o Final Report/Opinion on 6G strategic vision: February 2025 Invited presentation Slide 7 Aleksander Soltysik, RSPG
doc.: IEEE 802.18-24/0025r0 March 2024 RSPG Work Programme 2024/2025 Assessment of the future usage of the frequency band 470-694 MHz RSPG recognised the possibility that, for the use of the 470-694 MHz band, a single scenario may not be applicable to all Member States. The RSPG should carry out an assessment of the prospects for the use of the sub-700 MHz band in the decade 2030-2040 by the different Member States, seeking information from relevant institutional stakeholders. o to collect lessons from early initiatives from Member States introducing other usages than broadcasting o RSPG recognises the role of the PMSE and the need to preserve sufficient spectrum for PMSE needs, particularly audio-PMSE. doc.: IEEE 802.18-24/0025r0 March 2024 RSPG Work Programme 2024/2025 Strategic Spectrum Matters RSPG contributed to the European Commission s broad consultation on The future of the electronic communications sector and its infrastructure . RSPG intends to continue to support EU policies and to advise the European Commission. The RSPG intends to follow the Digital Decade 2030 process, the reflection on a new regulatory policy for electronic communications and other EU Policy/initiatives that may require additional contribution from RSPG which are not already covered by the other work items of its Work Programme. doc.: IEEE 802.18-24/0025r0 March 2024 RSPG Work Programme 2024/2025 RSPG on climate change issues The RSPG believes that Climate change is of utmost importance. The RSPG believes that this work is progressing in the right direction, but it has not yet matured sufficiently in order to enable the Group to analyse the role of spectrum use in more detail. In the current situation, it seems unlikely that RSPG will be able to determine any concrete recommendations on how spectrum policies can facilitate a green digital transition for Europe, to be included within an opinion within the next two years.
