OVERVIEW Sakhiikan Construction Inc. (Operating as Sakhiikan Consortium) is a partnership between local Mistissini entrepreneurs Nisk Construction, Naococane Construction, Kesi Construction, Matoush-Grimard Electrical and Eskan Company / Makaahiikan Construction. Each of these companies has specific specialities in the construction industry and have come together to be more competitive within and outside the Cree Territory to obtain and perform large project management and construction works. Combined RBQ Licencing in Civil, Construction (both residential and commercial / industrial), Electrical works and other areas provides a vast repertoire of expertise and experience joined together to be competitive and have the capacity to complete Major Construction projects in our region. 3
HISTORY In November 2014 Stornoway Diamonds presented to the local entrepreneurs of Mistissini for the Construction Phase of the Renard Mine. At that presentation, it was clear that the vision of the community businesses that a cooperated effort would have a stronger voice moving forward. In January 2015 through a strategic planning session collectively, the five partners came together through a MOU to commence project submissions. August 12, 2015 the partners entered into a formal legal agreement finalizing this partnership moving towards future development and completion of Major Construction Projects. The Name Sakhiikan (Lake) has in its logo Lac Bussy (in commemoration of the Lost Hunters) and 5 feathers representing 5 partners and the 5 Hunters. 4
