Disappointments (Opportunities) of First Semester Sinking Fund Proposal Not Approved Student Enrollment Down slightly from last year Up slightly from budget Several students leaving for other alternative ed programs State School Aid Budget Cuts No increase in per student 31AA Grant cut 23G Grant eliminated

Strategic Plan: District Mission, Vision and Belief Statements Proposed Mission Statement Sand Creek Community Schools will provide a range of motivational and engaging instructional experiences in a safe environment, empowering students to achieve their greatest potential. Proposed Vision Statement The Vision of Sand Creek Community Schools is to develop well-rounded, responsible, productive and successful members of society. Proposed Belief Statements Sand Creek Community Schools believe.. That positive relationships foster a safe and supportive learning environment. That open communication and family engagement is a foundation for a strong community and student success. In providing a variety of experiences to prepare our students for their future. That every student deserves a quality education.

Strategic Plan: Proposed Goal Statements Communications: Sand Creek Community Schools will continue to explore and utilize multiple communication avenues to promote and encourage engagement within and beyond our community. Academics/Programs: Sand Creek Community Schools will prepare students for academic success and to be a positive, contributing member of society. Operations: Sand Creek Community Schools will maintain financial stability to support the changing needs of the district. Culture: Sand Creek Community Schools will use relationships and data to foster a positive and safe learning environment. Personnel: Sand Creek Community Schools will foster the culture and climate to develop staff and administrative leaders.

  10. Data, Data, Data Attendance Data *Current chronic absenteeism rate for Sand Creek Schools is 4.92%. Chronic absenteeism is having 10 or more absences a semester. Well below Lenawee County and Michigan numbers! End of semester totals to be around 10% This is a 2% improvement over last year, 1stsemester totals

Safety Efforts Emergent 3 (E3) Emergency Communication Application Safety plan coordination with Madison Township Emergency Evacuation and Reunification Planning Live Shooter Emergency Response Drill Planning Threat Assessment Team Training Protecting Children on Social Media Working with a few other districts in county to offer a community/parent safety meeting with presenter from Government and Community Outreach Protect MI Child

Culture/Climate/Communication/ Perception Continue efforts to improve communication and tell our story using a variety of methods: Quarterly Newsletter mailing District Website and Facebook Official News Source All-Staff Updates Sunday night alerts Feedback surveys to seek specific input/feedback Meet with Superintendent Events January 9th and January 17th Superintendent Greeting Videos

Disappointments/Opportunities Sinking Fund Proposal Failure Met with Building Committee to review and prioritize 5-year plan and numerous facility needs Keep searching for grant opportunities Awarded Section 74b Clean Bus Grant thru MDE 75% of cost. If we also receive the EPA grant, we could get 2 new electric buses 100% funded State School Aid Funding cuts 31AA Grant cut 23G Grant cut Per student funding freeze Enrollment slightly down from last year; slightly up from budget Will be working with Finance Committee reviewing current year and next year s budget forecasts
