  3. INTRODUCTION Steel Re-rolling Mills of Bengal is popularly known as SRMB & now known as SRMB Srijan Limited. SRMB was established in 1954 just 7 years after independence. SRMB has its corporate and registered office in Kolkata, West Bengal. SRMB is certified with IMS system viz. ISO-9001, ISO-14001 and OHSAS- 18001. SRMB has its valued customers like MES ( Military Engineering Service), NHAI (National Highway Authority of India), NTPC, Railways and many Govt. and private sectors. 3

  4. PROFILE of PRODUCT & SERVICES SRMB produces X- type TMT Bar from Billets. General Production ( Diameter in mm) Special Production ( Diameter in mm) 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 28, 32 36, 40, 45, 50 X-type design B S R M They use Medium Carbon Steel to produce the TMT. And they maintain IS-1786 to produce TMT bar and IS-2830 to produce Billet. Yield point of these type of bar is almost 550-600 N/mm2 4

The vision statement of the Company is to Be the topmost steel manufacturing unit in the world . Mission- SRMB always strives to offer best in class product to achieve customer delights and leave a lasting impression in the minds of customers. The Mission statement of the Company is to Be the market leader in every segment it operates . 5

  7. SRMB mainly consists of ten departments. Those are- 1. Marketing. 3. Engineering. 4. Quality Assurance. 5. Commercial. 6. Purchase. 7. Human Resource. 8. Accounts & Finance. 9. Information Technology 10. TQM 1. Marketing This department do marketing in 2 types. A) Retail Marketing. B) Project Marketing. They also do Market survey. 2. Planning & Production. 7

  8. 2. Planning & Production This department is concerned about the production of TMT bar and the maintenance of the plants. The production of TMT bar from Billet is in their hand. Engineering This department has four section like- a) Mechanical Engineering. b) Electrical Engineering. c) Electronics Engineering. d) Civil Engineering. They are always involved with plants and production work. 8

  9. 4. Quality Assurance This department ensures the physical and chemical property of produced TMT bar as per specification. Physical Property- 1. Breaking Load. 2. Elongation. 3. Diameter measuring etc. Chemical Property Contents of 1. Iron (Fe) , 1. Carbon, 2. Silicon, 3. Manganese, 4. Phosphorus, 5. Sulphur etc. 5. Commercial The departments manages the functions of logistic activities, central excise, billing, allocation of production, taxation etc. 6. Purchase- The department purchase raw material for their plant and deals with their vendors. 9

  10. 7. Human Resource ManagementAllocation of resources,Related to training & development, performance appraisal, keeping records of all employees etc. 8. Accounts & Finance- This department handles banking loans, cash inflow and outflow system, Break even point for the organization, the capital budgeting for organization etc. 9. IT- This department take care of systems implementation and Wi-Fi in the organization. 10. TQM- This department handles the quality control system of their product through several process. 10

  11. SRMB has introduced policies in their organization. Such as - 1. Recruitment Policies , 2. Regularity & Punctuality. 3. Retention Policies. 4. Welfare Policies etc. 1. Recruitment Policy - SRMB recruits through online advertisement, forced cv, online portal, references and by several interview processes. 2. Regularity & Punctuality Office timings from Monday to Friday is 10 a.m. 7 p.m. and for Saturday it is 10 a.m. 4 p.m. 15 minutes late coming is allowed thrice in a month. 3. Retention Policy - SRMB congratulates its valued employees through rewards and recognition. 4. Welfare Policies Travelling policy, Phone, Medical Insurance policy. 11

  12. SRMB followed two types of accounting method- 1. Cash basis- This method was followed by SRMB in early stages of their organization. 2. Mercantile basis- SRMB is following this accounting method now . Cash Basis Mercantile Basis All the income and expenditure is recorded when its is really paid or received. All the income and expenditure has to be recorded irrespective of it is paid or received at that time 12

  13. SRMB promotes their products through Advertisements. Kapil Dev, former world cup winning captain is their brand ambassador. SRMB is one of the sponsors of ISL & IPL . They offer gifts and rewards for their distributors, dealers, engineers and mesons. SRMB invites their distributors for foreign tours and get together. 13
