RDA / US Scholars Program :: Overview Two-part program - Fellows and Interns Strategic uses: Engage students and early career researchers in RDA Link RDA activities with other activities Provide opportunities to work with experts Interns - travel money and stipend Graduate students Interns - over the summer Apply, get awards Present at RDA plenary Work w/ RDA members Receive funding Postdocs Fellows - over 3 RDA plenaries Fellows - travel money Early professionals
Accomplishments Interns 25 applications, 8 interns selected Projects focus on vocabularies, provenance, data in history and ethnography, engagement, ORCID, metadata and data types Posters and presentations at P4 (one intern second place in poster competition) Fellows 35 applications, 5 fellows selected Projects focus on RDA engagement, data publishing, and data standards Posters and presentations at P6
Plans for the next 6 months Consolidate two parts and reinforce it via the united Fellowship Program Secure additional funding to increase the number of fellows (proposal submitted to the Sloan Foundation) Initiate the next fellow application cycle Engage the RDA community
Needs from the Advisory Committee Help to solicit strong, well-scoped projects from WGs and IGs Help with mentor recruitment and mentorship Ideas to align the Fellowship program with RDA Focus on adoption Most effective fellows input Most useful fellow-RDA outputs
