  1. Our mission as school counselors in New York State is to provide a comprehensive, developmentally age-appropriate and sequential school counseling program that is aligned with the New York State Learning Standards and the American School Counselor Association s National Standards for School Counseling Programs. The New York State Comprehensive School Counseling Program focuses on the needs, interests and issues related to the stages of student growth through academic, career and personal/social development. In partnership with students, staff, family, community members and employers, we prepare students to become effective learners, achieve success in school, live successful and rewarding lives, and develop into contributing members of our society (New York State School Counselor Association).
