District Updates School Safety and Security Grant District Emergency Operations Plan Crisis Response Handbook Flip Chart Communications Solutions Group
School Safety and Security Grant Submitted grant in the fall Awarded $478,287.00- 3rdlargest amount among 41 school districts in Allegheny County for purchase of security- related technology to include: Outside protective lighting Surveillance equipment Special emergency communications equipment Electronic locksets, deadbolts Trauma kits and theft control devices and training Staff, student and visitor identification systems including criminal background check software
District Emergency Operations Plan District Emergency Operations Plan has been revised with procedures to address hazards and incidents such as: Floods Severe weather Armed Intruder Bomb threat Bus accident Hostage Fire/Explosion Infectious Disease- Coronavirus Terrorism
Professional Development/Training Grant includes costs associated with the following professional development and training activities: Staff training programs in the use of school-wide positive supports, de-escalation techniques and appropriate responses to student behavior Classroom management techniques Costs associated with training for school police officers Trauma informed approaches Services for students and their families Collaborative efforts between schools and behavioral professionals
Critical Response Handbook Flip Chart Teachers will be provided with an abbreviated flip chart version that outlines the initial responses and procedures to be followed in any given crisis Principals will review during faculty meeting
Communications Solutions Group Communications Solutions Group Budgeted $30,000 for the 2019-2020 school year Balance as of January 28, 2020, the total available was $5720 January Invoice $1980.00 February Invoice $1,618.75 Remaining Balance $2,120.00-- does not include March invoice Recommend a Retained Services Fixed Monthly Fee of $3,400 Fee for 12 months = $41,000, an increase of $11,000 for the 2020-2021
