Ashtabula Area City Schools Board of Education Meeting September 15, 2021
LAKESIDE HIGH SCHOOL UPDATE Highlights: Homecoming Parade, Football Win!, Homecoming Dance (Some Normalcy) Marching Band Experience (LHS Marching Band will be on Fox 8 news in the morning Friday) Channel Five Interview of former Band Director s Family One Team. One Family. Mantra Administration is active out of the offices interacting with scholars and staff. Challenges or Resources Needed: Schedules (Addressed and Resolved) Lunches (Addressed and Resolved) 3 Lunches Class Sizes over 30 scholars (We have a plan to implement next week) ED Unit (Training for staff) We can do better with they way we interact with each other as professionals and as adults.
LAKESIDE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL UPDATE Highlights: Schedules have been corrected and confirmed Busing and dismissal are in place Over 70 students are signed up for ASD and Quest 305 7th and 8th grade career readiness have begun with an assembly on Sept. 10th Target students are being identified Lunches are very tasty Challenges or Resources Needed: Sub shortage Teacher shortage Online school-we are working on solving this IS teachers needed
ERIE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL UPDATE Highlights: STAR Testing - ELA & Math ROAR Store Communication Cultural/Diversity Cafeteria Options Spirit Friday Challenges or Resources Needed: Attendance Covid SEL Staffing
SUPERIOR INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL UPDATE Highlights: Star Benchmark Assessment has been administered and meetings to follow to analyze data Students on Lexia Reading Program and making growth Students following safety guidelines with minimal impact to academics Attendance rate is 94% Large percentage of students in person (Approximately 5% online) Challenges or Resources Needed: Late buses (effects delayed academics/extended teacher day) Large gaps in students skill levels Lack of substitutes
