GRADE 11 SCIENCE CLASSES WHICH SCIENCE 11 COURSE(S) SHOULD YOU TAKE?
PHYSICS 11 Counts as credit for graduation and is recognized by universities Pre-requisite for Physics 12 Involves problem solving & critical thinking involves lots of math Assessments include mostly tests & labs Requires strong math skills & strong work ethic Course is content heavy expect regular homework/review 30 min per day
CHEMISTRY 11 Counts as credit for graduation is and recognized by universities Pre-requisite for Chemistry 12 Involves problem solving & critical thinking involves lots of math Assessments include mostly tests & labs Requires strong math skills & strong work ethic Course is content heavy expect regular homework/review
BIOLOGY 11 Counts as credit for graduation and is recognized by universities Recommended for Biology 12 Involves lots of content/vocab/memorization Assessments include labs & tests & projects & assignments lots of dissections!!!! Requires strong independent study skills Course is content heavy expect regular homework/review
EARTH SCIENCE 11 Counts as credit for graduation and recognized by universities Topics include: Earth materials (rocks & minerals), Plate Tectonic Theory (includes volcanoes & earthquakes), Atmospheric Science, Oceanography and Earth within the Solar System Assessments include projects & assignments & quizzes Involves some content/vocab/memorization Course is less content heavy than Phys/Chem/Bio, but still requires a good work ethic
SCIENCE FOR CITIZENS 11 Counts as credit for graduation and may be recognized by some universities, but is not recognized at many universities Topics include: Safety in Science, Scientific Method, Forensics, Earth Science (Climate Change and Resources of BC), Material Science, Space and Wellness (drugs, steroids, vaping). Assessments include projects & assignments lots of hands-on activities Course is not content heavy most work is done in class
