  2. HOW ARE CLUBS GROWING DURING THE PANDEMIC? Methodology: Spoke with presidents of clubs from 5 districts in our Zone that have grown by a net of four members from July 1 to March 31 in 2020-21. Interviewed 14 club presidents 7780 2 clubs 7850 3 clubs 7870 2 clubs 7910 4 clubs 7430 3 clubs One had grown by +10 by starting a satellite club.

  3. KEY FACTORS FOR MEMBERSHIP GROWTH 3 Strong Leadership Club Stays Busy Engagement with the Community Effective Communication Flexibility Creativity & Persistence

  4. Strong Leadership Example: Hampton RC President who works well with leadership team Strong membership chair. Taking advantage of members skills and interests. Experience counts.

  5. Club Stays Busy Clubs are engaged in both service projects and fundraisers Example: Cohase Rotary Club Move away from check-writing to hands-on service Typically, one or more activities per month Small is better than none at all. Don t say no.

  6. Engagement with the Community Example: Weston Wayland Rotary Club Develop relationships with community leaders Develop relationships with other non-profits Take advantage of all opportunities to spread the word about Rotary.

  7. Effective Communication Example: Perkasie Rotary Club Use Facebook and social media to publicize events and activities to the larger community. Communicate often and via different methodologies. Make sure club events show Rotary passion.

  8. Flexibility Don t be afraid to change up meeting times and venue now and AFTER COVID. Example: Randolph Sunrise Rotary Club Be willing to change member expectations meet members where they are. Come up with new membership levels and arrangements as appropriate. Survey your membership! Frequently!

  9. Creativity and Persistence Example: Bristol Rotary Club Found new ways to do traditional projects or came up with new ones. Ask for involvement - not $$$ Turn toward projects that interest newer/younger members rather than same old/same old.
