Prof. Adolf Faustine Mkenda, Ministry of Agriculture TARIBan1 (NARITA 4), TARIBan2 (NARITA 7) TARIBan3 (NARITA 18) and TARIBan4 (NARITA 23) Large number of planting materials are needed. Our Plan is to multiply and disseminate at least 30,000 plantlets in the first year

  3. Multiplication and Dissemination of Released Varieties Initial materials, 120 virus indexed banana plantlets have been requested from IITA Ibadan Nigeria (pre basic seed). We estimate multiplication ratio of 1:2 (1 cycle takes approx. 1 month). Each month, the tissue is subdivided and cultured: June 2021 (120): July 2021 (240) : Aug 2021(480) Sept 2021(960): Oct 2021(1920): Nov 2021 (3840) . Therefore, in nine months we estimated to have 30,720 plantlets

  4. Multiplication and Dissemination of Released Varieties So far, there are 3 public laboratories to assist us in multiplication process Each Lab will be supplied with 150 Plantlets ( Producing Basic Seed) TARI Mikocheni TARI Dakawa, TARI Kibaha,

  5. Multiplication and Dissemination of Released Varieties Link with MEDA through RAPID project to assist in multiplication process Each Private Lab will be supplied with 150 Plantlets ( Producing Basic Seed) Maua Mazuri TC Lab, Crop Biosciences Solution and Kilimo Organo We don t have formal seeds system for banana to ensure purity and quality of the propagated banana seedlings by commercial tissue culture laboratories.

  6. Multiplication and Dissemination of Released Varieties Establishing Mother Garden (Tengeru, Maruku, Katrin, and Uyole) Establishing Demonstration Plots across the country to popularize the varieties: Kilimanjaro Arusha (10 Demo Plots) (5 entry per variety) Mbeya ( 5 Demo Plots) Kagera (17 Demo plots) Farmers Field days and Food Festivals (Farmers will be provided with clean planting materials of preferred varieties)
