My Final Project By Danni Bethell
Original ideas My original story idea would have been more of an action story centring a character with superhuman abilities; however, this story had a very complicated character dynamics and story arc that would require more than short story to flesh out. I felt uncomfortable writing this story in more simplistic manner as it would ruin the main themes and characters. My second idea had been a short love story between star-crossed lovers as they travel the oceans to return home. This story had many interesting dynamics and themes that I would have enjoyed exploring, however, this story would have been complicated and would require a certain level of expertise to accomplish and as my first story I would prefer a plot that is closer to the ground.
My project concept My project is going to be a short story centring themes of self-worth and coming of age. This story is supposed to be read as statement on beauty standards and discusses the ideology that "beauty is pain" in a more literal sense. Rather than teaching that being yourself will set a new standard I would like to pose the question of is the pain worth the outcome of fitting a mold.

It also expresses my aim to make a statement on the beauty standard and what people are expected to do in order to meet it, in the case of my story this is expressed through extreme and exaggerated actions.

I personally enjoy the creation of creative ideas and love seeing my concepts and projects come to life. My rationale goes into details of my objective and goals regarding this project such as: expanding my writing experience as well as working on and building upon both newer skills and ones obtained in previous units.

Examples include refraining from adding a fate Vs free will because while it would add an interesting layer to the story it would also take away from the initial statement being made. Currently my research is focused around theming and what sort of audiences they attract as well as the tones they portray.
My brief includes specific requirements pertaining to my project. I have look at various sources to determine what is needed to self- publish books on platforms such as amazon kindle.
