Independent Support Identified within the Children and Families Act (section 32) there is a responsibility for the LA to provide an IASS (Independent Advice and Support Service) for: Children Parents Young People For children, most will access this via their parents. However, for older children (e.g. from transition), they must be able to access this separately if this is what they want. We need to ensure that children are aware of the service could be through careers advice/transition reviews etc. IASS contact details to be added to child/parent contribution element of the Annual Review paperwork. IASS will support schools to share this message. If schools would like to discuss how this can be achieved in their setting please contact Lesley at IASS https://cyp.iassnetwork.org.uk/service/shropshire-iass/
Annual / Transition Reviews Reminder: It is necessary for the SEN Team to amend and finalise EHCP s for children transitioning to their next phase of education in September 2019 by 15th February or 31st March 2019. In order to meet these deadlines, it is essential for the AR to be completed in the Autumn Term. Letters have been sent to schools requesting a return of AR dates by 9th July 2018 3
