Character Traits Bravery Depressed Mia was brave when she found out that she had cancer Mia was depressed when her cat died. Mia was depressed when a psychic told her that she was going to die. Mia was brave when she was in the hospital getting treatment.
Plot Mia gets diagnosed with leukemia Reaction: She gets very upset and scared. Everyone at school finds out Reaction: She gets upset because she is scared their going to treat her differently now. Change: Mia becomes depressed and starts to think that everything she valued doesn t matter. Change: Her friends stop talking to her, and she gets kicked off of the cheerleading team.
Theme In order to get through hard times you need your family and friends support. Your perseverance determines your success. When Mia stopped trying to get better she was in the hospital more. When all of her family and friends stopped talking to her she started to have a harder time dealing with her cancer. At the end of the book when Mia started to try again she got out of the hospital. At the end of the book she makes up with everyone who got mad at her and with their support she felt better
