Thomas Estley Community College is a popular college serving the village of Broughton Astley, Cosby and surrounding areas. We have a current number on roll of over 900 Key Stage 3 & 4 students, as well as a specialist communication and interaction provision, and host a satellite base of Birkett House Special School. We are the lead school in Thomas Estley Learning Alliance (an alliance of over twenty primary and secondary schools) and the secondary school in Success Academy Trust. The College also has extensive extended schools provision including our primary out of school club, Pre-School, Sea Cadets and secondary extra-curricular clubs, as well as adult and community evening provision. We have a strong family ethos and are looking for an enthusiastic and committed applicant who wants to work with our warm, welcoming team to further our mission statement of Building Leadership and Character Together. Undertaking duties as required commensurate with the grade of the post.. A SEN Learning support assistant should be able to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations, attend fire drills and staff meetings as required, alongside training events. To maintain total confidentiality regarding pupils and other personal information and participation in, contribution to and evaluation of training and development opportunities including those arising from annual staff review. This job description sets out the duties of the post at the time when it was drawn up. Such duties may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed. Job Title: SEN Learning Support Assistant (Maternity cover) Grade: 5 - 24,408 FTE (Actual 14,114.95) Hours: 25 Hours per week, 39 weeks per year Responsible to: SENCo Key relationships with: SEN/Inclusion Manager, other members of the SEN team, the College Manager, teaching staff, College Principal, Vice Principal, other members of support staff, College members, pupils, parents, local community Job purpose: To support pupils who have Education and Health Care plans under the Education Act 2011 in a way which improves pupil outcomes and learning. To support pupils with additional needs both in and out of the classroom. To contribute to pupils access to the curriculum by working with teaching staff to produce differentiated resources as appropriate. To encourage independent learning by providing appropriate materials and support approaches for pupils with additional needs under the guidance of a teacher. To be aware of and work towards targets set in pupils EHCPs. To ensure the safety by close supervision of named pupils in practical situations where this is specified in an EHCP. To attend a fortnightly LSA team meeting. To join a strong and purposeful team committed to providing a flexible and effective support service for pupils with additional needs. Delivery of small or 1:1 interventions WHOLE COLLEGE RESPONSIBILITIES: Support current policies and recognised good practice within the college Be aware of the importance of confidentiality and data protection Participate in annual Performance Reviews with your Line Manager, based on agreed objectives.
