Mission Trip 2023! Two Harbors MN With Service Learning Camps
WHY would I want to do this? God expects us to serve another! What does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 Opportunity to care for creation by serving. (Human and Natural) Get to know people better from my church. It s FUN!
What will we be doing? Where will we be helping? Possible Organizations Helping the Earth Lake County Soil & Conservation Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center Cover Valley Organic Farm Tettegouche State Park Helping People Community Partners Neighbor to Neighbor
What will the schedule be like? Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (SAMPLE) 8:00AM Breakfast Sunday travel to Two Harbors 9:00-11:30AM Work Thursday travel home. 11:30-12:30 Lunch Times are TBD, but we can be flexible 12:30-2:00 Work 2:00-? Play, Explore Supper Group Sharing Time
Where will we stay? Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Two Harbors We will sleep on the floor in classrooms by gender. (Bring air mattress) We will prepare our food in their kitchen, including packing lunches for the day. We will shower at Bodies in Balance in Two Harbors. We will have a key so we can use them at any time.
Will we do any fun activites? YES! Possible Ideas. We d discuss what we d like to do together Lots of great places to explore the North Shore of MN Knife River Beach, Iona s Beach, Black Beach Gooseberry Falls State Park, Split Rock Lighthouse State Park Breakwater (Watching Ships) North Shore Adventure Park (High Ropes, Zip Lines) Duluth: Boat Cruise, Aquarium, North Shore Scenic Railroad
What will it cost? Per Person $50 Bethlehem Lutheran Church $175 Service Learning Camps (staff guide and organizing projects) $50* Food $30* Transportation $10-50* Fun *These are rough guestimates and will fluctuate with what we do or the number of people that go. Firm Cost of $225 Including the rest: $350 (give or take) We will fundraise for at least half of the cost per person. *If cost is prohibitive for you, please speak with Pastor Kim. Expense is not a good excuse to not go. :)
How will we prepare to go? Team Building Meetings 3-4 Meetings Day and Time to TBD. Includes get to know you and some local serving together. Fundraising Ash Wednesday Supper, Palm Sunday Breakfast Anything else as needed or we think would be fun. Post Worship Presentation Tentatively August 6 at 9:00AM worship (We share photos and stories with the congregation)
