Code of Conduct Athletics are a privilege, not a right. Student-athletes are held to a high standard. Tobacco, alcohol, other drug use, and anything illegal are a violation of the code of conduct and may bring a suspension. Good citizenship!!! Vaping **IS TREATED AS A DRUG** Social Media Concerns We want to read about you in the sports pages not on the front page.
High Quality Coaching 5 different courses that are required and have to be renewed from 1- 3 years. Coaching Evaluation in Place We have high expectations for our coaches, who have high expectations for your sons and daughters because they are worth it.
Playing Time / Role To say that your child should be playing more, is saying that another child should be playing less. These are coaching decisions and I do not intervene with these decisions in any way. I am here as a resource for all of our programs, but the coaches are the source knowledge and team management. What is our purpose? Every event is a teachable moment what is being learned by every action. Individual or team success on the field, court, track, or mat are a goal but not at the expense of our purpose. You will not be remembered by your wins or points as much as how you handle success and adversity.
Jr. High High School Youth Try to play everyone but playing time is not the same Playing time is based on production and performance Everyone plays close to equal
Parent Roles / Responsibilities This past year we have had more conversations with parents who are unhappy about playing time, practice structure, coaching style, etc. than all other years combined. If you reach out to me about meeting, and have not met with the coach then my response will be to contact the coach. If we meet and it is about playing / practice time or role within a team, I will listen to you and my response will be that these are coaching decisions.
Chain of Communication If there are disagreements with a coach, please talk to the coach before coming to me, principals, superintendent or the school board. Coach Involved Head Varsity Coach Athletic Director Building Principal Superintendent School Board Concerns about playing time, scheme, roles, stats, etc. will not be taken seriously. These are coaching decisions. 48 Hour Rule.
Other Important Notes We will avoid dismissing from school early at all costs. Instructional time is important and must be protected. While it is appreciated when parents/coaches/boosters provide meals to teams will not be dismissed from school early so students can eat before we leave for an away game. Student-athletes are expected to see their teachers before missing class for a contest to get assignments and due dates are not changed for student-athletes with away contests. Student-Athletes are to ride school transportation (bus) to and from game unless a coach gives his/her team permission to ride home with parents. Parents will need to sign for student-athlete to ride home with them. Student-athletes are expected ride with their parents not their friends, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.
