The importance of cooperative societies in the rural areas is mainly due to the fact that, they provide sustainable development to the agriculturists. This is done through developing infrastructure and support facilities. Farming cooperatives help farmers to pool their small and fragmented land holdings
NAFED: National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED) is an apex organization of marketing cooperatives for agricultural produce in India, under Ministry ofAgriculture, Government of India National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd.(NAFED) was established on the auspicious day of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October 1958. Nafed is registered under the Multi State Co-operative Societies Act. Nafed was setup with the object to promote Co-operative marketing of agricultural produce to benefit the farmers. Agricultural farmers are the main members of Nafed
Objectives To facilitate, coordinate and promote the marketing and trading activities of the cooperative institutions in agricultural and other commodities, articles and goods. To undertake or promote on its own or on behalf member institutions or the Government or Government Organizations, Inter-State and international trade and commerce . To act as agent of any government agency or cooperative institution
CONTI.. To organize consultancy work in various fields for the benefit of the cooperative institutions in general and for its members in particular. To undertake manufacture of agricultural machinery and implements, processing, packing, etc. up manufacturing units. To set up storage units for storing various commodities and goods
NCDC: The Corporation (NCDC) is a statutory Corporation set up under an Act of Indian Parliament on 13 March 1963. The objectives of NCDC are planning and promoting programmes for production, processing, marketing, storage, export and import of agricultural produce, foodstuffs, industrial goods, livestock and certain other notified commodities and services on cooperative principles and for matters concerned therewith or incidental thereto National Cooperative Development
Functions Planning, promoting and financing programmes for production, processing, marketing, storage, export and import of agricultural produce, food stuffs, certain other notified commodities e.g. fertilisers, insecticides, agricultural kerosene oil, textile, rubber etc., supply of consumer goods and collection, processing, marketing, storage and export of minor forest produce through cooperatives, besides income generating stream of activities such as poultry, dairy, fishery, sericulture, handloom etc. NCDC will now be able to finance projects in the rural industrial cooperative sectors and for certain notified services in rural areas like water conservation, irrigation and micro irrigation, agri- insurance, agro-credit, rural sanitation, animal health, etc. machinery, lac, soap,
Cont Loans and grants are advanced to State Governments for financing primary and secondary level cooperative societies and direct to the national level and other societies having objects extending beyond one State. NCUI The National Cooperative Union of India, (NCUI) is an apex organisation representing. the entire cooperative movement in the country. It was established in 1929 as All India. Cooperative Institutes Association and was re-organised as Indian Cooperative Union The objectives of the Union are to promote and develop the cooperative movement in India, to educate, guide and assist the people in their efforts, to build up and expand the cooperative sector and to save as an exponent of cooperative opinion in accordance with cooperative principles
