About Sobriety House The oldest residential treatment facility in the state of Colorado. Private, nonprofit agency offering affordable treatment options with an extensive continuum of care. Mission and Values Mission Statement Sobriety House, Inc. is a nonprofit drug and alcohol treatment center dedicated to offering affordable, effective services with an extensive continuum of care to support clients in lifelong recovery. Values Sobriety House adopts and supports the philosophy and principles of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Our History 1967- Rev. Ernest Baber began a street mission for the poor. He wanted to offer a low cost, dignified place a man could change his life. 1974- Thomas G. Vessels donates 2 houses for program use. 1978- Sobriety House takes over Stepping Stone. 1982- Acquired Gaylord Apartments for sober living. 2007- Merged with the Phoenix Concept C. L. Who We Serve Sobriety House offers affordable, 12-step based treatments to adults 18 years of age and older. We have experience treating the following addictions: Alcohol Methamphetamine Opioids/Heroin Barbiturates/Sedatives Benzodiazepines/Tranquilizers Cocaine Marijuana Hallucinogens Inhalants Other drugs, such as MDMA, PCP, etc. Our priority populations include: pregnant women, IV drug users women with dependent children, and veterans
Our Program Sobriety house offers an extensive continuum of care to clients. Clients can move between levels seamlessly and without waiting. Our program includes: Intensive Residential Treatment (IRT), Transitional Residential Treatment (TRT), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Traditional Outpatient (OP), Independent Living
Phase I: Intensive Residential Treatment 28 days on campus No electronics Individual counseling- 1 hour per week with an assigned counselor Group therapy sessions- 6 hours per day, 7 days per week, with each week focusing on a different theme: Week A: Feelings Awareness Week B: Sobriety Maintenance Week C: Stress Management Week D: Assertiveness Training Case Management/Aftercare plan Life skills classes (ex: cooking, vocational, 12 steps, etc.) Monitored, random urine analysis (UA) and breathalyzer analysis (BA) Monitored medications Clients must attend a minimum of 3 12-step meetings per week. These are offered on campus. Yoga/meditation
Phase II: Transitional Residential Treatment Can stay up to 6 months Must be out in the community during the day (Searching for jobs, Attending 12-step meetings, etc.) Individual counseling- 1 hour per week with assigned therapist Group therapy sessions- 2 hours each, 3 times per week Case Management/Aftercare plan Monitored, random UA/BA Monitored medications Clients must attend a minimum of 3 12-step meetings (on campus or in town) The Phoenix Concept
Phase III: Intensive Outpatient/Traditional Outpatient/Sober Living Optional individual counseling Group therapy sessions: IOP= 3 hours each, 3 times per week (9 hours per week) OP= 2 hours each, 1 time per week Monitored, random UA/BA Sober living option: Mandatory sobriety Furnished 1 bedroom apartment Reduced rent Must meet criteria of employment, stability, and have completed at least 60 days in Phase II program The Gaylord Apartments
Family Program Once a month, Sobriety House hosts a Family Education Day for family and friends of clients participating in Phase I of our program. The day is specifically designed to educate family and friends about the treatment process and the programs offered. Family Education Day includes: An overview of our Phase I program, classes, and focus Information about continued care for Phase I graduates, including Phase II program, Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient groups, and the Gaylord Apartments. Our Treatments and Staff At Sobriety House, we use only Evidence-Based Treatments (EBT) with our clients. Some of the treatments we use include: 12-step facilitation Relapse Prevention Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Seeking Safety Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) We pride ourselves on our staff. Our staff includes Masters-level employees, and several staff members are in recovery themselves. This experience leads to empathetic, understanding employees that truly want to help our clients succeed on their journey to recovery and sobriety.
Intake Process 10-15 minute prescreen with Intake Coordinator Schedule Intake Assessment Complete Intake Assessment with Addictions Counselor Determine level of care, fill out forms, orientation with House Manager, check in medications, settle into room Begin groups the following day
Intake Process The Intake/Assessment typically lasts about 3 hours. During this time, the Addictions Counselor performs a Mini Mental Status Exam, Addiction Severity Index (ASI), ASAM Triage, and ICD-10 Diagnosis.
Eligibility for Our Programs Sobriety House has the ability to offer services to anyone from anywhere if they can pay for services themselves or have family or friends assist with payment. We also offer services to low income clients with state funding, if they qualify and if they are in the catchment counties we serve. These counties include: Clear Creek, Gilpin, Adams, Jefferson, Denver, Arapahoe, Douglas, and Broomfield. Some clients come to us through judicial districts, the Department of Human Services (Denver, Arapahoe, and Jefferson Counties), the Veterans Grant, and through our contract with Kaiser Permanente.
Program Fees Phase I(Intensive Residential Treatment) - $5280 all inclusive, 28 days maximum Phase II(Transitional Residential Treatment) - $2000 for 30 days, 180 days maximum Outpatient/Intensive Outpatient- $75 per session Sober Living at the Gaylord Apartments - $700-$750 per month *Medicaid does not currently pay for residential treatment. Phase I and Phase II will not be covered. Only outpatient services can be paid by Medicaid.
