  3. We realize that there are going to be more questions than answers. We have future meetings and topics, so don t worry if your questions don t get answered today, we need to stay focused. Need to get a lot accomplished, we have a strategy to address most topics, if by the end of our third meeting we have not addresses your questions/concerns. Call me or email me. We need to stay focused on the topics.

  4. SOCCER CONTINGENCY GROUP OSAA Staff on the webinar Patrick Duffy, OAOA - Oregon SRI Soccer Dave Hancock, OADA South Eugene HS (6A) Mike Blok, OADA Beaverton HS (6A) Darren Goodman, OADA La Grande HS (4A) Missy Smith, OADA Oregon Episcopal (3A) Monty Hawkins,OACA Sherwood HS (6A) Jamie Brock, OACA Summit HS (6A) Jaime Rivera, OACA Hood River Valley HS (5A) Stephanie Vanderbusch, OACA Phoenix HS (4A)

  5. Ground Rules: Everyone in attendance will be muted once the meeting starts. If you want to comment, you will need to unmute yourself. I will try to manage the conversations to make sure everyone has the opportunity to speak out. Feel free to submit thoughts via the chat and hopefully one of our OSAA staff members will be monitoring that.

  6. Ground Rules: Challenge yourself to think about the WHOLE (the state), not so much about the PART (your school or program) These meetings and future meetings are work sessions, no public testimony, and are meant for people to speak freely, so what is said needs to be confidential and no finger-pointing as we are all trying to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.

  7. Goals: To develop a set of recommendations that we can present to the OSAA Executive Board to help our membership schools with guidance and a comprehensive set of guidelines in the specific sport of soccer We need to remember that we are dealing with 179 schools who offer soccer and are from all scopes so we need to make it fairly simple (KISS method)

  8. What we know today: All membership schools are in a Moratorium-like restrictions until May 25, regardless to some counties re- opening soon. The OSAA Executive Board is meeting on May 20 to discuss what role the OSAA should play throughout the summer (after May 25).

  9. What we know today: Governor s Executive Orders 20-20: extends school closures until June 30 (actually it is until the end of each districts school/contract year {varies by district}). 20-12: Allows outside activity, but no contact and must keep physical distancing. The state plans to release Summer Camp and Summer School guidance on May 15

  10. What we know today: Governor s Re-Opening Plan has the state opening in Phases. 33 of the 36 counties have applied to reopen to Phase 1. (28 Counties APPROVED today to reopen in Phase 1) The 2020-21 School year will not open normal . Our ability to find creative solutions to get coaches and kids back together safely is ESSENTIAL!

  11. What we can anticipate: Moving forward, our membership schools need guidance on what options they have depending on what Phase of the Re-opening they are in. What we develop and recommend will be impacted by the decisions of other entities - the situation continues to evolve and we should be prepared for changes to occur.

  12. What we can anticipate: The NFHS/SMAC and the OSAA/SMAC will be issuing medical guidance soon. Medical recommendations carry BIG WEIGHT with decision makers. Not every sport will have the same reopening timelines. The ODE will be forthcoming with decisions on whether or not schools will open as usual in September and will have an impact on OSAA Sports and Activities Any Questions?

  13. Meeting #1 Focus Question: What would you consider the minimum time needed to acclimate a soccer player that has had limited opportunity to train? What types of restrictions, number of trainings/practices do you use in your programs? If there was an interruption during the season, would we need to have a re- acclimation period before starting again?

  14. Meeting #1 Focus Question: If in small groups (no more than 5, including a coach) were allowed to convene to practice, could soccer coaches make that work? What if the number was 10? How would physical distancing work in soccer?

  15. Meeting #1 Focus Question: What is your comfort level with soccer camps or clinics organized and/or conducted by member schools during the summer? Should we be taking a position on these events?

  16. Future Meeting Dates: Thursday, May 21 (4:00pm 5:15pm) Thursday, May 27 (4:00pm 5:15pm) Thursday, June 4 (4:00pm 5:15pm) Thursday, June 11 (4:00pm 5:15pm) Will send you the focused questions for the meeting when I send you the invitation.

  17. THANK YOU for participating!!!
