All children should have access to social-emotional learning opportunities ASSESSMENT Are SEL approaches /programming effective?
What do we know? Meta-analyses have shown that social-emotional skills predict short- term academic outcomes, longer term educational, labour force, civic, and health and wellbeing outcomes Some methods are better than others with respect to prediction Interviews predict better than ratings data Teacher ratings are better predictors than student self-report However, based on e.g. US (CA) and Chile assessments, rating scales measures provide some paradoxical results which challenge usefulness of such measures can be validated through e.g. LLECE
