  1. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; (John 5:26 KJV)

  2. ? Eternal Sonship Or Eternal God

  3. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (Philippians 2:5 8 KJV) Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:5 8 NAS95)

  4. The Sonship Of God Jesus during His earthy ministry was accused of several things Having a demon (Jn 10:20-21; Matt 12:24) Blasphemy (Mk 2:7) However, subsequently after His ascension many accusations were leveled not just against Him, but against God Himself. Paul said these falsehoods would take place (1 Tim 4:1-6; 2 Tim 4:1-5) There is a modern day doctrine that has sprung up over the centuries. Remember any modern day doctrine cannot be from the truth! It is called The Eternal Generation Doctrine Was or is Jesus The Son of God Eternally & Perpetually?

  5. The Sonship Of God The Origin of The Doctrine Docetists/Docetist-ism A designation for various views regarding the humanity of Christ that began to manifest themselves in the late 1st century. The term is related to Gk. doke n, to seem. Docetic thought is a by-product of the Hellenistic environment of early Christianity that, philosophically, made a radical distinction between the material and the spiritual, and thus denied that the spiritual Christ actually assumed material human form. With the denial of the Incarnation, it became logically impossible to sustain that Christ experienced genuine suffering and death on the cross, a fact that made irrelevant any discussion of authentic resurrection. (Eerdmans Dictionary)

  6. The Sonship Of God The Origin of The Doctrine Arius In Christianity, Arianism is a concept which asserts that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who was begotten by God the Father, not at a point in time, but perpetually. It also states He is distinct from the God Father in nature and attributes and as a result subordinate to the Father. Pentecostalism (United Pentecostal Church specifically) alleges that the persons of the Godhead Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one and the same person

  7. The Sonship Of God The Origin of The Doctrine As we can see these doctrines are not just o matter of interpretive opinion, but a rejection of Scripture, the Sovereignty of God, and our Salvation And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. (John 20:30 31 KJV)

  8. The Sonship Of God The Early Church Fathers seem to espouse this doctrine In the Nicene Creed of A.D. 325. Christ is described as Son, only begotten, firstborn of all creation, begotten of the Father before all the ages Later Augustine would advance the idea that the Father, Son , and Holy Spirit are not separate persons, but to the contrary, one and the same person (the origin of the Pentecostal belief). He advocated the theory that the Son was eternally begottenof the Father. in other words, the perpetual son. This ideology cannot be reconciled with what the Scriptures teach about the Deity of Christ

  9. The Sonship Of God What Do The Scriptures Teach About This Subject (Isa 9:6; Mic 5:2; Jn 1:1; 8:58) The Scripture teach that God is self existent (Ex 3:14) The name Jehovah signifies the one who is entirely self-existent (Isa 40:3 term Lord yhwh or Our God _Elohim Gen 1:26 Cf Gen 2:4). (Rev 1:8, 17) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. (Revelation 1:8 KJV) And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: (Revelation 1:17 KJV)

  10. The Sonship Of God What Do The Scriptures Teach About This Subject (Jer 23:5-6) Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. (Jeremiah 23:5 6 KJV)

  11. The Sonship Of God What about the reasonableness of the argument? A Father proceeds a Son: A father by revealed truth, comes before a son, hence, if the Father is eternal how can the Son be? Both father and son cannot eternally co-exist! This was what Arius was affirming. In our times, Jehovah s witness make this same conclusion, thus the son must have been created! The Old Testament does not reveal this relationship as already established

  12. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6 KJV) When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. (Hosea 11:1 KJV)

  13. The Sonship Of God Passages Used to Espouse or Manipulate the Truth of God s Word (Psa 2:7 Cf Acts 13:33; Heb 1:5) I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. (Psalms 2:7 KJV) (Acts 13:33; Heb 1:5) This day recognizes a specific time of commencement. How can this convey or represent eternity, as in the Eternal Sonship or Generation theory Cf (Psa 89:19, *27)

  14. Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon This day recognizes a specific time of commencement. How can this convey or represent eternity, as in the Eternal Sonship or Generation theory

  15. The Sonship Of God Passages Used to Espouse or Manipulate the Truth of God s Word And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David :And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. (Luke 1:30 33 KJV) Notice the passage states He shall be given the throne of His father David The phrase Son of God is used 46 times in the New Testament The Word made flesh was never (not one time) used to refer to Christ prior to his birth It is because of His conception that He will be called the Son of God!

  16. The Sonship Of God Passages Used to Espouse or Manipulate the Truth of God s Word Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth (Proverbs 8:25 KJV) This is not a messianic proverb but simple one in which wisdom has been personified for the sake of emphasis Cf 8:1-5 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths. She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors. Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man. O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. (Proverbs 8:1 5 KJV)

  17. The Sonship Of God Passages Used to Espouse or Manipulate the Truth of God s Word (Psa 110:3-4) Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. (Psalms 110:3 4 KJV) (Rom 4:19; Gal 1:15) There is no eternal priesthood. (Heb 5:6,10; 6:20, 7:17,21) where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. (Hebrews 6:20 NKJV)

  18. Heb 2:2-18

  19. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ s at his coming. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. 1 Corinthians 15:23 28 KJV)

  20. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.He was in the beginning with God.All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. (John 1:1 3 NKJV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.The same was in the beginning with God.All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made. (John 1:1 3 ASV)

  21. Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. (Galatians 4:1 5 KJV)

  22. Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with Hisown blood. (Acts 20:28 NKJV)

  23. As Son These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: Godwas manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. (1 Timothy 3:14 16 KJV) up into glory Godwas manifest in the flesh

  24. Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. (John 17:1 5 NKJV)
