School of Education, Health and Human Behavior Initial Licensure Meeting Terms Entitlement the process by which SIUE informs the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) that you have completed all program requirements and are entitled to a professional educator license. School of Education, Health and Human Behavior Initial Licensure Meeting Entitlement Forms Verify the following: Name Email address and phone number Add additional if you d like IEIN Number (from the ELIS system) Banner ID Degree you are earning and your major Graduation or completion date (the date ALL requirements will be done) Endorsements It is your responsibility to let our office know by end of finals week if there are any changes necessary to the information on your form. 618.650.3940 ~ rcrail@siue.edu

Grades posted (you will see these in Cougarnet) Degree is awarded. Pass all tests. Entitlement processing begins in SEHHB Student Services. 618.650.3940 ~ rcrail@siue.edu
School of Education, Health and Human Behavior Initial Licensure Meeting Entitlement for License Once all requirements have been satisfied, SEHHB Student Services will process your entitlement with the state. You will receive an email (THE EMAIL) from our office once we have entered your entitlement with the state. We will send it to all email addresses you indicated on your entitlement forms. Watch for an email from rcrail@siue.edu with a subject line Licensure Completion . The email will contain a link for you to use that goes straight to ELIS. School of Education, Health and Human Behavior Initial Licensure Meeting The all important email! WAIT UNTIL YOU RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM RHONA TO APPLY FOR ANYTHING IN ELIS. Do not do anything until you have received an email from the SEHHB Student Services Office (Rhona Crail) letting you know your entitlement has been processed by SIUE. 618.650.3940 ~ rcrail@siue.edu
School of Education, Health and Human Behavior Initial Licensure Meeting Entitlement License Log into your ELIS account: https://sec3.isbe.net/IWASNET/login.aspx You must: Apply for your license ($100) Register your license ($50) Register your license in the county in which you intend on working. May be changed later. You now have your professional educator license and any school district may verify through ELIS. It looks like you are finished after you Apply, but you are not! School of Education, Health and Human Behavior Initial Licensure Meeting Time Traps Entitlement is good for one year: Apply for and register your license within one year of SIUE s submitting your entitlement. Could require additional coursework and/or tests if you wait. Don t forget to register: Register your license within six (6) months of applying for your license or it will lapse. Will require additional coursework or a fee to renew. You are encouraged to apply for your license immediately even if you are not planning on teaching at this time. 618.650.3940 ~ rcrail@siue.edu

If all requirements are NOT met when degree is posted, transcript will say: Student has not completed an approved state program. Check with the Department of Education in the state you wish to transfer. We meet the guidelines for the state of Illinois. School of Education, Health and Human Behavior Initial Licensure Meeting Transferring to Missouri http://dese.mo.gov Generally does not require any additional coursework or tests to obtain licensure. On the application, mark all the areas in which you think you could be licensed.
