Space and Time Multiscale Analysis System (STMAS) for Improved Forecasting
"Discover the Space and Time Multiscale Analysis System (STMAS), a cutting-edge variational multiscale analysis system enhancing analysis and forecasting capabilities. Supported by various projects, STMAS requires support for transitioning to operations, improving LAPS analysis and forecasts for AWIPS. Explore improved storm boundary detection, typhoon forecasting, and the financial support needed for LAPS transition. Enhance your understanding of multiscale analysis with STMAS."

Presentation Transcript
Space and Time Multiscale Analysis System (STMAS) It is a variational multiscale analysis system, a generalization of LAPS; It provides a better balanced, temporal consistent and improved analysis and forecast; Its research is supported by various projects but it needs support for transition to operation for improving LAPS analysis and forecast for AWIPS.
A multiscale analysis Domain of interest Truth Standard 3DVAR analysis STMAS analysis
Improved analysis and forecast Storm boundary detection (FAA CoSPA applications) Improved forecast For typhoon (Morakot)
Financial Support for Transition LAPS: STMAS: Additional resource needed for transition, more computation, temporal consistency data source and calibration of the variational analysis for nowcasting and forecasts.
