EDUCATION IS THE PRIORITY All students with IEPs will have comparable programs in their home districts Fewer transitions Consistency of curriculum Create a home school culture Special Education Teachers and Related Service Providers work with ALL students through the MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) Model
PROGRAMMING How we ensure all students are receiving a high-quality education MOST students with IEPs are currently serviced in a Tiverton School programming (services) will remain the same for these students, should the IEP outline Some students have access the NCRSEP Specialized Programming (shared service model) in other member districts programming/services will now take place in a Tiverton School, should the IEP outline (see next slides) Some students receive their services in an out of district placement Programming/services will remain the same for these students, should the IEP outline
TPS POTENTIAL SPECIALIZED PROGRAM CLASSES/SERVICES 2023 - 2024 Pre-School and Pre-Kindergarten Integrated Pre School AM Class & Integrated Pre Kindergarten PM Class Ranger Pocasset Special education program designed for children 3 - 5 who have an identified disability and an IEP. Non- disabled peers are tuitioned into the program and serve as peer role models. Programs have up to 15 students: 8 role model children, and up to 7 children with disabilities.
TPS POTENTIAL SPECIALIZED PROGRAM CLASSES/SERVICES 2023 - 2024 Elementary Pathways to Success Program Grades K - 2 Grades 3 - 4 - new to TPS was housed in Middletown Pocasset The purpose of the Pathways to Success Program is to support student achievement in both Social Emotional Competencies and Academic Content, in a uniquely individualized setting that fosters a safe and caring learning environment. The Pathways to Success Program utilizes positive practice behavioral change strategies in conjunction with its intensive academic and clinical support treatment regime. The intent of the structural behavioral change strategies are to provide students and their related service personnel, objective and tangible feedback while promoting pro-social behavior in the context of the school community. All incentive and corrective feedback strategies have, within their design, processing of the student actions and behavioral outcomes. The role of the program staff at all levels is to serve as a resource to students during their time of crisis as well as when they are realizing success internally and/or externally. To promote meaningful individualized behavioral outcomes, all systems within the Pathways Program are supported by the collection of objective behavioral data. ren, and up to 7 children with disabilities.

TPS POTENTIAL SPECIALIZEDPROGRAM CLASSES/SERVICES 2023 - 2024 Elementary Intensive Special Education Program Grades K - 2 Grades 3 - 4 Ft Barton currently houses another Intensive Program, this will not be needed due to hosting only Tiverton students, staff will move to the new Pathways Program at Pocasset Ft. Barton The Intensive Special Education Program is a classroom environment outside of the general education setting for children with significant learning needs. These classrooms serve students who require a highly modified curriculum, smaller class size, and a lower student/teacher ratio. Like the general education students, individuals in the Intensive Special Education Program learn academic skills, daily living skills, communication skills and social skills. Students follow modified curriculum goals, which are aligned with the RI Common Core Essential Elements. Students in the Intensive Special Education Program may also receive related services such as Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech and Language Therapy. The students are integrated with typically developing peers in general education classrooms during academic and social activities, as appropriate. Similarly, the students attend school-wide events, field trips, and social activities. There are also many opportunities for reverse inclusion, where typical peers come to the Intensive Special Education Program to interact, study, play and assist the students.
TPS POTENTIAL SPECIALIZED PROGRAM CLASSES/SERVICES 2023 - 2024 MIddle School RISE Program - Reaching Independence through Structured Education Grades 5 - 6 Grades 7 - 8 Students in the RISE program may present a variety of challenges, including anxiety, social skills, self-awareness, and executive functioning, as well as sensory and emotional regulation. In addition, students learning may not be at grade level, and may benefit from a smaller academic community to achieve success.Our RISE program is designed to enhance the social and academic success of students by providing a highly structured and supported school environment to develop the emotional, social, behavioral, and/or academic skills necessary to succeed in the regular education classrooms. RISE aims to maximize the potential and independence of each student and is based on the belief that all students can learn together in the same schools and classrooms with appropriate supports.

RISE program is designed to enhance the social and academic success of students by providing a highly structured and supported school environment to develop the emotional, social, behavioral, and/or academic skills necessary to succeed in the regular education classrooms. RISE aims to maximize the potential and independence of each student and is based on the belief that all students can learn together in the same schools and classrooms with appropriate supports. *The development of this program holds the possibility of bringing some students back from Out of District Placements jobs.
TPS POTENTIAL SPECIALIZED PROGRAM CLASSES/SERVICES 2023 - 2024 Shared Transition Programming for students 18 - 22 Transition Academy A collaborative program between the Middletown and Tiverton Public School Departments for 18-22 year-olds who have IEPs and require additional educational services to acquire employment skills, functional life skills, social skills and become more informed about individual life and career choices so to better prepare for adult life. Students benefit from a transition based curriculum and a career exploration program that continues the development of their transitional skills, in an adult learning environment. Each student participates in vocational and community-based programming in areas of interest to them based on assessments and interests. The Transition Academy participates with a wide variety of local business partners. While at the job sites students will gain the career skills and confidence to be able to obtain a job with minimal supports and develop an understanding of their own skills, interests, and related jobs.
TPS POTENTIAL SPECIALIZED PROGRAM CLASSES/SERVICES 2023 - 2024 Shared Transition Programming for students 18 - 22 Project Search Project Search at Newport Hospital is an employment focused education program, designed to give students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities opportunities to develop employability skills in a real work place, surrounded by other working people. It is a collaborative effort that pools resources from the Office of Rehabilitation Service (ORS), Middletown and Tiverton Public School Departments, the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDDH) and Lifespan. Students accepted for the 1-year Project SEARCH program are called interns and work 5 days each week at the hospital, combined with daily on- site classroom sessions.Throughout the year, each intern will complete 3 different work rotations. During this time, inters work alongside and learn from their hospital colleagues and managers. Additional support through class based sessions, progress monitoring and job coaching is provided by the staff.
STAFFING All current employees would be absorbed by the district they work in. Employees would work under their district's contract No loss of employment
FINANCES Our financial impact statement has Tiverton saving about $90,000 Transportation alone is costing us $96,880 this year Any saving will be evaluated in terms of the needs our our students and any unexpected cost that should arise We are not doing this to save money it is to provide exceptional educational programs
