Overview The VCAA s Special Provision policy is designed to provide students who are affected by illness, impairment or personal circumstances the opportunity to participate in and complete their senior secondary studies.
Eligibility Students are eligible for Special Provision if they are affected by: Acute or chronic illnesses Long term impairment Personal circumstances
Forms of Special Provision There are three types of Special Provision: 1. Arrangements for classroom learning and School-based assessments (School/VCAA) 2. Special Examination Arrangements (VCAA) 3. Derived Examination Score (VCAA) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) (VTAC)
Special Examination Arrangements Special Examination Arrangements (SEAs) are designed to assist students who have a disability or illness that may affect their ability to access their external VCE examinations. School s apply on behalf of student The application must include VCAA s evidence requirements The SEAs Panel considers each application individually Established benchmarks for evidence and decision-making
What is Available? Rest breaks Permission to stand and stretch during a rest break Permission to leave examination room during a rest break (under supervision) Separate examination room Medication Food and drink Extra reading time Extra writing time Scribe Computer
Derived Examination Score The Derived Examination Score (DES) is intended for students who experience the onset of an illness or the occurrence of an injury or personal trauma around the examination period. Student is responsible for the DES application Timely medical/professional consultation Closing date is seven days after student s last VCE examination in the relevant examination period.
